Today is August 31, 1999 and I feel truly blessed to have found Beryl Skiljan in Australia. Her line comes from John Finley Crowe, 1787, whose son was:

1.Samuel Stanhope Crowe, born 1819, married (1) Mary V. Fouts, their son being Judge John Finley Crowe, born March 6, 1843 in Indiana, married (1) Emma Pike.

2. Caroline Elvira Crowe, born March 24, 1827, died 1909.

Child of Samuel Stanhope and Mary Crowe:

1.John Finley Crowe, born March 6, 1874 in Indiana, died March 26 1918 Riverside County, California, who married (1) Emma Pike, their son, John Finley Crowe, born March 21 1874 in Dallas, Tx, died approx. 1911, Ohio USA, married Florence Emily Cork, born November 26 1874, Rochester, Kent, England, on August 28/29 1901 at Brixton England.

Their sons,John Finley Crowe, born August 28, 1905, Manhattan NY, and Charles Austin Crowe born July 23, 1906, Manhattan NY, came to Western Australia on August 6, 1916 on the "Omrah" from London with their widowed mother, Florence Emily Crowe after apparently spending several years in England with her parents, Elijah and Mary Cork.

John Finley Crowe, 28/8/1905-3/1/1990, married Rita Monica Jacques born July 14, 1914(died July 21 1990) in Western Australia, at the Ross Memorial Presbyterian Church, West Perth on May 30, 1930. Beryl's only child, Kathryn (Skiljan) Bradtke born 30/12/1967, and her husband Jeff are the parents of a daughter, Sophia Maree born March 3 1997, and twin boys, Thomas Jeffrey and John Alexander born March 10 1999, which seems to be a Crow/Crowe tradition as there are many sets of twins in their history.

Thanks to Beryl for sharing her information with me! I hope it will be a great find for another geneologist searching this line! An interesting sight to visit on the web is:

5. Mary(Polly) Crow, born circa 1789 in Greene, Tennessee, died prior to 1743 in Bowie, Texas. Married Curtis Morris on 20 January, 1805 in Sainte Geneveive, Missouri.

6. Lydia Crow, born circa 1791 in Greene, Tennessee, died prior to 1840 in Arkansas

7. Robert Crow, born 22 June, 1794 in Greene, Tennessee, died 29 May, 1876 in Long Valley, Placer, California. Married Elizabeth Brown on 5 September, 1817 in Missouri. Elizabeth was born in Abbeville, South Carolina on 1 April, 1795, died 25 May, 1870 in Washington County, Utah. Her parents were Benjamin Brown and Ann Blanton. Robert moved to Perry, Illinois and in 1838, joined the Mormon Church, became a member of the "Mississippi Saints" ! By 1845, persecution was on the increase in Illinois. Elizabeth had a cousin, John Brown, who led a company of Saints into Independence, Missouri, May 26, 1846. In 1847, they traveled north to Fort Laramie. On July 13, Orson Pratt requested them to precede the main body down the canyon to the Great Salt Lake. Therefore, the crow family was among the first Saints to enter the Salt Lake Valley. Walter, Elizabeth's son, drove the fifth wagon into the Valley on July 22, 1847. Robert Crow and his family were definitely a part of the Pioneer Company who arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah on 22 July, 1847. It is very awesome to believe he was part of the pioneers who scouted the lands and helped choose a location for the Temple! A picture hangs in the Mormon Library in Salt Lake City of Robert Crow and wife, Elizabeth! The Crow women being some of the first women into the Valley! I feel very proud of my heritage and thankful to the LDS for keeping these records for those in search of their roots. More can be found by reading Early Mormon History! Finding and visiting Robert Crow's grave was probably one of my most exciting moments in my research. Thank you, Gene and Marie! I began my search with not much information back in the South and wound up almost in my own backyard, so to speak!

*11. Rachael Crow, born 19 April, 1802, Missouri Territory, died 18 May, 1877 in Yorkville, Mendocino, California. Married Samuel Gibbins circa 1815, Missouri. Samuel was born 1794 in North Carolina, died in 1851, killed by two men named Morgan. After much research I have located the proof of this information through the Ouchita Baptist Church Library. Samuel and Rachel lived in Clark County, Arkansas at this time. Rachael came to California with some of her children after Samuel died.
