Whereas a commission of Bankrupt, bearing date on or about the 8th day of March 1803, was awarded and issued against John GIBBONS and William SHERWOOD of Liverpool, in the county of Lancaster, merchants carrying on a trade in co-parnership under the name of John GIBBONS and Company, and the persons chosen and duly apointed assignees of the said Bankrupts Estate and effects under the said commission are all since dead. ...(there is more to this)

The sudden and deeply-lamented death of my young friend Mr William CLAY, has occassioned an opening for for a House of Business in the Ship Brokerage Department, of which I am determined to take advantage of a partnership with my son Charles:
I beg leave respectfully to solicit a portion of your favours assuring you of our best endeavors, being at all times exemplary in transacting whatever business you may be kind enough to commit to our care, with strict attention and fidelity

Smuggling

On the arrival of the "Medora Griffiths" from Charleston, eight pounds of foreign tobacco were found concealed, by John WALKER Commander of the Revenue Cutter "Vixen", which consequently has caused the vessel to be kept under detention

Attempted robbery

About three O'clock on Saturday morning last, the watchman of Marybone observing a suspicious looking character loitering about opposite the premises of Mr BLUNDELL tobacconist, Marybone, and knowing that those premises had lately been attempted several times, he procured assistance and had him secured.
He then proceeded to the back of the premises where he discovered two young men engaged in ransacking the shop, they ran upstairs, threw open a window and on the third story and dropped to the street, one of them escaped, the other captured. The prisoners have ben committed to Kirkdale, and the young man who jumped through the window has since been so unwell as to require medical aid
