  HEALTH COMMITTEE.
AT A MEETING OF THE HEALTH COMMITTEE, HELD ON THURSDAY, THE 1ST DAY OF AUGUST, 1878

PURSUANT to a Resolution of the Health Committee,

"That the Borough Engineer report as to the Burial Grounds in the Borough which have not  been ordered to be wholly, or partly, closed, with such particulars as will enable the Health Committee to consider the advisability of recommending the Council to apply for an Order in Council to close the same,"
the Engineer begs to report that he has obtained all the information in his power with reference to the Burial Grounds in Liverpool. On the accompanying place, Nos 1784 and 1785, are shown in pink the areas at present known to be occupied; the portions tinted blue are those which are known as "half used;" with respect to many of the portions untinted, the Engineer has been unable to obtain trustworthy information.
All the detailed information which the Engineer has been enabled to obtain is given in the following notes.
ST MARY'S CEMETERY, WALTON ROAD.
PLAN NO 1784.
In this Cemetery seven vaults have been built, but not yet used. Parts of the Cemetery are, it appears, half used; that is to say, that in those parts one body only has been interred in each grave space. The bodies are said to have been buried about four feet deep. The portions of the ground fully used are tinted pink on the plan, and the portions half used are tinted blue.
JEWS, CEMETERY, DEANE ROAD
PLAN NO 1784.
In this Cemetery there are no vaults. The portions of the ground tinted pink on the plan are full, and the parts tinted yellow belong to individuals, but have not been used.
A single interment only in each grave is allowed in this Cemetery.
NECROPOLIS CEMETERY.
PLAN NO 1784.
In this Cemetery twenty-five vaults have been built, but not yet used. The ground tinted pink on the plan is full, and the portion tinted blue has been half used; that is to say, each alternate grave only is full, or partly used.

All the vaults in this Churchyard, except one, are full, or partly full. The portions of the ground tinted pink on the plan has been fully used, and although there is no record of the portion not tinted having been opened it cannot positively be stated that it has not been used.

All the Vaults in this Churchyard have been used. The portion of the ground tinted pink on this plan has been used, and the portion tinted blue - which is enclosed by a wall - was in 1827, when cholera was rife, set apart for persons who died of that disease. It was subsequently ordered to be closed for fifty years, and this time has now expired. It appears that about 200 bodies were interred in this ground during the continuance of the cholera.
