| Aaron Vandyke had, for several decades, premises at 62 Bold Street, Liverpool. He did, for a short period in the early 1880s work from 64a Bold Street. The address on the reverse of this carte (the photograph has been enlarged to reproduce here) is 62 Bold Street. |

| The subject of the photograph, Mary Jane Smith was born in Lancaster, Lancashire in about 1856. Shortly after she was born, her mother died and her father, John, moved to Liverpool. Her father remarried in 1858 at St. Nicholas Church, Liverpool to Mary Roberts. They had 5 children: Elizabeth Abagail, John Llewellyn, Hannah, Thomas Alfred and Louisa Mary. |

| Mary Jane married Edward William Eyes in 1877 at St. Augustine C of E Church, Everton. They had two sons - the first, Edward H. Eyes died as an infant, the second, named after his dead brother, Edward Harrison Leonard Eyes was born in 1879 in Pancras, Middlesex. |

| Mary Jane and Edward divorced in 1885 and she did not remarry until 1909 when she married Charles Thomas Windus at St. Catherine C of E Church, Abercromby Square, Liverpool. |

| She died in 1931 in Smithdown Road Hospital and is buried at Anfield Cemetery. |
