Berry and Louisa were married at the home of Thomas Sheperd Deaver. (A local Justice of the Peace.)Berry married1 Louisa PENIX on 18 Jan 1855 in Madison Co, NC. Louisa was born on 10 Mar 1827. She died on 11 Feb 1913 in Buncombe Co, NC. She was buried in Maney Cemetery, Barnardsville, NC.

Mrs. Harriet E. Banks, 76, died early yesterday morning at the home,
Asheville, RFD 1 [Woodfin], following a short illness. Surviving are three
sons, G.B., W.S. and A.J. Banks; three daughters, Alta Benfield, Mrs. Charles
L.Edwards, and Mrs. James Devlin ; one brother, Garfield Wood, two sisters, Miss Samantha Wood, and Mrs. Floyd Smith, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. today with the Rev. William Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be V.E. Burleson, Floyd Williams, Baxter Renfro, Paul Baker, Johnny Brown and Marion Burrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Lawrence Sprinkle, Dr. O.N. Sprinkle, Ralph Young, John Ramsey, and Loranzo Banks.

for Ethel Autrey Banks, 75, of Woodfin, who died Monday, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday
in Crouch Chapel of First Baptist Church of Asheville. The Rev. Jay Blankenship will
officiate. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. Mrs. Banks, a native of Yancey
County, was the daughter of the late George Henry and Martha Ogle Autrey. She had
lived in Asheville for 40 years and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her husband, Woodfin "Polly" Banks. The family will receive friends and

Veterans Administration Medical Center, with a 15,000 hour award. She was a charter

Asheville - Grady McKinley Banks Jr., 76, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Grady and Gladys Banks. He retired from Realtec Inc. He served in the Marines. He loved to build model airplanes and play on his computer. He is preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by one brother, Leroy Banks and two sisters, Marjorie Banks and Betty Jean Jenkins. Surviving are his wife, Betty Jane King Banks of Asheville; two brothers, Richard Banks of Asheville and Donald Banks of Minnesota; three sisters, Daisy Lee Coleman of Byron, Ga., Geraldine Smith of Asheville and Jeanette Shipman of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn. The Rev. Robert E. Harris will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka. Betty Jane King Banks, 77, of 2060 Wilson Road, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at her home following a long illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Verley and Essie King and the wife of the late Grady M. Banks Jr., to whom she was married for 56 years. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Carl and Floyd King. Surviving are her sisters, Elsie King House and Agnes King Israel, both of Asheville. She will be missed by her sisters and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert E. Harris officiating. I haven't found the name yet but I did find a birth record of a Banks child being born 17 Feb 1915, Buncombe Co, NC and Gather Banks was listed as the father.

Pauline I Banks, formely of Asheville, died Nov 8, 2000, in Winston-Salem. Mrs Banks has resided in Walkertown since 1975. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaither Banks, son, Jr Banks and daughter Wanda Edwards of Erwin, Tenn. Survivors include sons, Donald Banks of Walkertown and Larry Banks of Thomasville; daughters, Ida Mae Pate of Kernersville, Ava Lee Spangler of Walkertown, Shirley Gosnell of Hickory and Gail Gray of Dayton, Tenn.
25 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 2000, at Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville conducted by George W Gray. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Pierce Chapel in Kernersville and other times at 1294 Micol Lane, Kernerville.

HICKORY - Shirley Ann Gosnell, 73, of CSI Farm Road in Hickory, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at her residence. Born March 13, 1936, in Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Gaither Barry and Pauline Helen Israel Banks. Shirley attended Harvest Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church and was employed by Glenn R. Frye Hospital for a short while. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Harley Lee Gosnell; a daughter, Darla and Lazaro Chavero of Conover; three sons, Derrell Gene and Pam Gosnell of Lincolnton, Dwayne Michael and Lesa Gosnell of Newton, and Darren Lee and Amy Gosnell of Lincolnton; two sisters, Idamae Pate of Kernersville and Gail and George Gray of Dayton, Tenn.; two brothers, Larry and Ann Banks of Lexington and Donald Banks of Walkerton; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grand-children. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Wanda Edwards and Avalee Spanger; a brother, JG Banks; and a grandson, Chris Herman. ERWIN � Mr. Samuel Howell Edwards, age 80, 106 Justice Lane, Erwin, died Thursday May 6, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Edwards had lived in Newport News, Virginia, before moving to Erwin 26 years ago. He was a son of the late Howell & Althea Moore Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a World War II Army Veteran. He retired from Newport News Ship Builders after 35 years of service as a welding inspector. Mr. Edwards was of the Baptist faith.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Larue Edwards, a son, Samuel Gaither Edwards, one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons & one daughter-in-law, Ernest Edwards, Erwin, Glenn Michael & Carolyn Edwards, Hayes, VA; one daughter, Sandra Bush, Erwin; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Edwards will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday from the Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Speaker David Byrd will officiate. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Full military grave rites will be rendered by the Kingsport V.F.W. Post 3382. Those wishing to attend may gather at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence 106 Justice Lane, Erwin.

Asheville - David Lewis Ingle, 69, of 247 Richmond Hill Drive, died Friday Oct. 3, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1992 from Revco Scientific and was formerly employed with Southern Railroad. He was a Marine Corp Veteran serving in the Korean War, a member of VFW Post #3040 and attended Calvary Worship Center. He was a son of Dradon Gilbert Ingle Sr. of Asheville and Lillian Maude Banks Jones of Asheville. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Trula Harwood Ingle of the home; sons, Danny Lewis Ingle of the home and Vincent Edward Ingle of Asheville; daughter, Vivian Louise Brown and her husband, Billy, of Asheville; sister, Marie McKinney of Candler; step mother, Virginia Ingle of Asheville; half sister, Brenda Hudson of Asheville; half brothers, Kenneth Allen Ingle of California and Malcolm Ingle of Asheville and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronald Dodson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.

Asheville - Cecil Cline Banks, 73, of 39 Busbee View Road, Asheville, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late L.I. and Anna Mae Pegg Banks. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Doyle and Danny Banks and his brothers, Woodrow, Neal and Thad Banks. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Reed Banks of Lebanon, Tenn.; son, Dean Banks of Lebanon, Tenn.; daughter, Theresa Mitchell of Lebanon, Tenn.; sisters, Virginia Langston of Asheville and Jean Keyes of Etowah; brother, Carroll Banks of Asheville; granddaughters, Kim Banks and Jessica Thompson, both of Lebanon, Tenn.; and great-grandson, Isaac of Lebanon, Tenn. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Anders-Rice Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
