On this 23rd day of May, AD 1901, personally appeared before me, N.S. Wilson, S.S.C., in and for the State and County aforesaid, Sallie E Sprinkle, age 61 years, and a resident of Winston-Salem, post- office in said County and State, and who, being duly sworn, makes the following declaration in order to obtain the peinsion under the provisions of an act entitled "An act to amend Chapter 198 of the Laws of 1889, for the relief of certain Confederate Soldiers and Widows, "ratified March 2, 1901; that she is the widow of the late Martin Sprinkle who enlisted in Co. "D", 21st Reg. NC State Troops, on or about the 22nd day of May 1861, to serve in the armies of the late Confederate States.
She further states that she was married to said Soldier or Sailor before the first day of April, 1865, and has never remarried; that she is, and has been for twelve months immediately preceding this Application for Pension, a bona fide resident of North Carolina; that she holds no office under the United States, or under any State or County, from which she is receiving the sum of three hundred dollars as fees or as salary annyally; that she is not worth in her own right, or the right of her late husband, property at is assessed value for taxation to the amount of five hundred dollars ($500), nor has she disposed of property of such value by gift or voluntary conveyance since the 11th of march, 1885.
she further states that her said husband was killed in battle on (left blank) in the state of VA on or about the (left blank) day of (left blank) 186(left blank)

We certify that we have carefully examined the application of Mrs Sallie E Sprinkle the widow of the late Martin Sprinkle, who enlisted in Company D 21 Regiment North Carolina State Troops, for a pension under the provision of an act entitled "an Act to amend chapter 198 of the Laws of 1889, for the relief of certain Confederate Soldiers and Widows," ratified March 2, 1901, and the proofs filed in support thereof, that we are satisfied the said Mrs Sallie E Sprinkle is a widow of the late Martin Sprinkle, who enlisted in Co D 21 Regiment of North Carolina State Troops on or about 22 day of May 1861.
We certify the following allegation set forth in her application to be true, namely: That she has never remarried; that she is and has been for twelve months immediately preceding this Application for Pension, a bona fide resident of North Carolina: that she olds no office under the United States, or under any State or County, from which she is receiving the sum of three hundred dollars as fees or salary annually; that she is not worth in her own right, or the right of her late husband, property at its assessed value for taxation to the amount of five hundred dollars ($500), nor has she disposed of property of such value by gift or voluntary conveyance since the 11th day of March, 1885 and therefore her application is correct and just under the act.

On this 9th day of May, A. D. 1885, personally appeared before me, CS Hauser, C.S. C., in and for the State and County aforesaid, Sarah Sprinkle, age 43 years, and a resident at Salem post-office in said County and State, and who being duly sworn makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension under the provisions of an act entitled "An Act for relief of certain soldiers in the late war between the States," ratified March 11th 1885, that she is the widow of the late Martin Sprinkle who enlisted in Co D 21 Reg. N.C. State Troops, on or about the 22 day of May 1861, to serve in the armies of the late Confederate States, and that while in performance of duty in said Company and Regiment, in the State of Virginia, on or about the 19 day of September, 1854, killed at Winchester VA which terminated hi life.
She further states that she holds no office in the United States, State or County from which she is receiving the sum of three hundred dollars in fees or salary, that she is not worth in her own right or the right of her late husband , property at its assessed value for taxation to the amount of five hundred ($500), and that she has never remarried.

Also personally appeared before me, J H Kreeger, who resides at tobaccoville, post-office, in said county and state, a person whom I know to be respectable and entitled to credit, adn being by me duly sworn, says that he is acquainted with Sarah E Sprinkle, the widow of the late Martin Sprinkle of Company D, 21 Regiment North Carolina State Troops, and that he believes her to be the identical person she represents herself to be, and that the facts set forth in her affiidavit are correct to the best of his knowledge and belief, and that he has no interest direct or indirect in this claim.
We certify that we have carefully examined the application of Sarah E Sprinkle, the widow of the late Martin Sprinkle, who enlisted in Company D 21 Regiment North Carolina State Troops, for a pension under the provisions of an act entitled "An Act for the relief of certain soldiers in the late war between the States," ratified the 11th day of March, A.D. 1885 and the proofs filed in support thereof, that we are satisfied that the said Sarah E Sprinkle, is the widow of the late Martin Sprinkle was enlisted in Company D 21 Reg. N.C. State Troops, on or about the 22 day of May 1861, and who lost his life in battle on or about the 19th day of September 1864; that she is now a bona fide resident of the County or Forsyth in this State;
that she does not own either in her own right or in the right of her last husband, property of the assessed value of five hundred dollars, that she is not in the receipt of salary or fees arising from any office in the County, State or Nation, to the amount of $300 annually, and that she has never remarried, and therefore her application is correct under the act.
