Mrs. M. L. Day Died December 20.
Mrs. M. L. Day died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John F. Barnett, Dec, 20, age 89 years, one month, and eight days. She was born in Rowan County in 1838 and was a sister of the late Nathan G. Cozart. In 1860 she was married to Mr. Nedda Day and to this union were born three daughters, Mary Ann, Julia Adeline, and Mortishia Louellen, 33 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was a loving mother and faithful friend. Forty five years ago she professed a hope in Christ and joined the Baptist Church at Buffalo Cove. She was confined to her bed nearly four years and with all her suffering she never murmured nor complained.

+ 66 M viii. Hugh SIMMONS was born on 30 Jun 1810. He died on 3 Nov 1893.

There is no record of marriage but he is living with his parents as late as 1840. At the April term of Wilkes Superior Court, John Simmons and Jenny Simmons (his sister-inlaw) is tried on a charge of Fornication and Adultery.
