Researcher: Norris Love

I am Norris Love, descended from Harold Norris Love, who was the son of Edward Myron Love (1872-1952, Saginaw, MI and Riverside, IL) and Gertrude Norris Love (1874-1972).

Edward was the son of John W. Love, b. 5/27/1843, d. 12/3/1907, married in 1864 to Sarah Melissa Dolliver, from Utica NY. John had a brother (William), and the family was listed in the 1850 Federal Census of Wayne County, MI as living in Detroit.

It is believed that John was descended from a James Love (1818-?), a painter, living at the census time in Detroit with his elder son Adam. There are indications but no proof that John was born in Canada, moving to New York state circa 1834 and then to Michigan in the late 1840's. It also has been suggested (but with no proof) that prior to 1820 the family lived in Scotland.
