Besides corrections, there was a question someone posed to me regarding the 1858 birth of [1-2-1-8] May Caroline Albright (page 32), but this year wasn't a typo on my part--the info is exactly as given in the Albright book.
[1-2-5-1-3A-3] Juliet Lee Thomas = her birthyear was given as 1885 as given in the Albright book, but listed second. I didn't catch it while transcribing into my manuscript, but she would have been firstborn, since her parents married in 1882.
[1-2-9-6-6-7] Jualia Ann Headrick = should read 1-2-9-6-7, thus belonging one generation back than what it appears in book. This spelling Jualia was exactly as in my source, Claribel (Albright) McClain's book.
[1-4-11B-3-6 SP] (pg. 283) Earl Henry Annan's death date should read 1974, instead of 1874.
[1-10] (pg. 395) William Loy's birth date should read 1794, instead of 1894.
(pg. 396) The numbering for Nellie Aiken [1-10-5-3-1] should read [1-10-1-1-1] instead.
[1-10-3-3A] (pg. 402) Duly Ann Aiken's last name was written as Akin: it should be Aiken.
[4-2-2A-4-9B] Andrew Clifton Loy [Sr.] = his death should read Seattle, King Co., WA--not IL as I had typed. You probably figured that out, though, considering I had the right state when I typed in where he was buried.
[2-1-1-AS1-8-7-1-2-1-3] (pg. 432) David Lawrence Sharp's twin should read "Daniel Lynn Sharp". I did the cut and paste method so I wouldn't have to retype the birthdates and instead forgot to change the name to the second twin.
[2-2-2A-1A] (pg. 744) Yancy Loy's place of death should read "Rhea Co., TN" not "Guilford Co., NC." Yancy also married a third time and had additional children. As mentioned on another part of this site, George Loy [2-2-2A-1A], son of Yancy Loy, was not the William Loy in 1880 Henderson Co., TN census as questioned. Rather, George died in the Battle of Vicksburg during the Civil War.
As for Yancy's theorized father Henry Loy (if not Henry [2-2-2A], then most likely George Loy [2-2], son of John, son of Martin), the descendants of Henry through son John Brooks Loy had tradition of Henry's father being named George. For many years, the descendants had thought that George was George, son of Martin. Of course, that George's son Henry lived and died in IL and was first cousin of the actual George whom I'd theorized was father of Henry [2-2-2A]. This tradition of Henry [2-2-2A] being son of George Loy helped support my theory that this Henry was grandson of John and Mary (Holt) Loy. Also, I've found this Henry's second wife Jane Driskel was sister to Polly Driskel, widow of Jacob Loy, whom I'd theorized was a brother of this Henry. The two Mary/Polly Loys mentioned in this section of my book (whose husbands were listed as Jacob Loy and "another brother, maybe named William Loy") may actually have been the same woman, listed twice in the census, in different households and only widow of Jacob. Their ages only differ by one year, though in different counties. The land given to widow Polly by her father was in Guilford Co., where she is later in the 1850 Guilford Co. census with sons John Loy and Jacob Loy (John moved to Bond Co., IL where his apparent aunt Mary (Loy) Isley settled, while Jacob married in Knox Co., TN, near where apparent uncle Henry lived). Yet the Polly in the Alamance Co., 1850 census with son Henry William/William Henry Loy. Descendants of H.W./W.H. Loy have tradition of his father being named Jacob Loy. It is likely this was Polly Driskel's husband, but I'm still researching this.
As far as Jacob Loy, son of John and Mary (Holt) Loy, his will mentions daughter Emily (Loy) Neese who was given a share along with Jacob's "other daughters" (unnamed). So this gives more support to the idea of Jane (Loy) Coble and Tempy (Loy) Sharp being his other daughters. If land records were researched in NC, this could verify my theory by the daughters' inheritances.
[4-2-7A-2-3] (pg. 1307) John W. Loy's birth should read "31 December 1877" not "31 December 1887."
I recently heard from Glenn L. Loy of Knoxville, TN, a descendant of George Washington and Delilah (Rhodes) Loy's [2-2-2A-2A] son Solomon Green Loy. Glenn's father James Abraham Garfield Loy [2-2-2A-2A-6-7] (s/o Alfred Loy, Solomon's son) had 11 children, but I had only listed four. Glenn also said I had switched two McHenry Loys, who are cousins. The one I had listed as born May 1880 [1-4-1B-7B-9] is correct, but the marriage and family and residence is for another McHenry Loy (b. 1881) that I hadn't recorded who was in 1920 census, married to Nannie. This younger McHenry Loy was son of Solomon Green Loy [2-2-2A-2A-2]. I hadn't listed this McHenry Loy as Solomon's son, as I hadn't found him in the 1900 census with parents. I was glad Glenn corrected me on this, as due to the 1890 census being destroyed, it is hard to piece some children from the 1900 census to their parents in the 1880 census. This gap has left out many children born after 1880 census and out of their parents' household by the 1900 census. Glenn said this younger McHenry's son William Shade Loy married his third cousin Ethel Loy, who is Glenn's oldest sister. By my calculations, they were second, since Shade's grandfather Solomon Green Loy and Ethel's grandfather Alfred Loy were brothers.
Another two "switches" I did in error: a source erroneously had told me the parentage of [2-2-2A-2A-3-3-1-1] A. G. Loy (m) (16 December 1918 TN-10 April 1991 "Gibbs Community", Corryton, Knox Co.,TN bur: Greenwood Cemetery, [Knox Co.?] TN). "A.G." [Alferd G.] Loy was actually son of [1-4-7B-2-7] James Harvey Loy (7 November 1883 Loys Crossroads, 8th District, Union Co., TN-October 1978 Knoxville, Knox Co., TN) and Mary M. (Canup) Kirkpatrick (1886 GA) d/o Fred (ca. 1845 GA) and Hannah G. Canup (1847 NC). They are found in the 1920 Union Co., TN census.
The second "switch" is for Caswell Mason Stooksbury, son of Isaac Stooksbury, Jr. I had [1-4-2B-10-1] confused with his cousin Caswell [2-4-10-2B-8-1], son of Isaac's bro Lewis. So just switch Caswells along with spouses and descendants.
I had given information of John and Mary (Hodges) Loy's son Thomas M. Loy [4-2-4A] as having middle name Moore. His descendants have informed me the middle name was Matthew, despite the IL early land records of 1835 showing his land in Jasper Co., IL was entered under "Thomas Moore Loy."
I had recorded the birth date of Tish Marie Williams [4-2-4A-7-7-1-2-1] as born 16 November 1976. The year should have read "1979".
I had been given information that Thomas S. Loy [4-2-2A-3] had middle name Sharp and was named for maternal grandfather Thomas Sharp. Some of Thomas' descendants, through son Alonzo, have record of the S. standing for Solomon. It is possible the "Solomon" could have been confused with Alonzo's wife's father, John Solomon Tennant, as he had middle name of "Solomon" and was called "Sol".
This one is really bad, to be so closely related I should have caught it earlier--I just realized I listed my own great-grandfather's death date wrong. For John N. Loy [4-2-2A-4A-5A], instead of the typo 31 July 1930, it should read 21 July 1930. More corrections to follow.
