Above is my
Grandmother's father and my great grandfather Edward James Naugle.He was
born in Eastern Passage,Nova Scotia on Feb24,1848 and died in Lunenburg on May
17,1922.He lived a very full life.He was a Mate on a few Salt Bank
Schooners(Mates papers in my possesion dated 2/21/1873)for 15 years sailing all
over the world.He got his Masters papers on 3/22/1888 and commanded Salt
Bank schooners Viola,Lion and Perch until 1904.He then retired from the sea and
opened a Hotel in Lunenburg called the Hammett house.His next Hotel was
the Rudolph.In 1913 he went to Boston,Mass and worked as a Gate Keeper
for the Boston & Maine Railroad.He came home to Lunenburg in 1920.
Below is my Grandmother's mother and my great grandmother Mary Ann
Romkey.The Romkey family were an old family in Lunenburg and in Nova
Scotia.The oldest house in Lunenburg is called "The Romkey House".Mary
Ann was born July 8 1843 in West Dublin,NS,Canada. She had two children,my
grandmother Nellie and my great uncle William Roseland Naugle who
lived 81 years,never married and worked in the Hotel business for 60 years.His
last enployment was as Manager of the"Hotel Belleview" next to the State House
in Boston,Mass.
