Will of John Peter Bilbo

THE WILL OF JOHN PETER BILBO

Will Book 1, Page 496, Lunenburg Co., VA.

I, John Peter Bilbo, of Lunenburg County being very sick of body but in my perfect sense and memory do make my last will and testament in manner and form follows.

First, I give and bequeath to my son James Bilbo three hundred acres of land of that tract whereon I now live to be laid off on the upper side of the line and on the upper side of the Creek to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Bilbo three hundred acres of land of the aforesaid tract on the lower side of the Creek to include the plantation to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son John Bilbo three hundred acres of land joining the above bequeathed to cross the Creek to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son Peter Bilbo three hundred acres of land joining the last mentioned to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son William Bilbo the remainder part of the said tract to him and his heirs forever, the whole tract being by estimation one thousand six hundred and twenty-six acres.

Item: I give to each of my above named children two cows.

Item: I give and bequeath to Isaac Dutoy one tract of land lying in Cumberland County, bounded by Thomas Porter, John Harris, Matthew Bingley and William Banton to his heirs forever. It being in consideration of the sum of twelve pounds to me paid and to be paid by the said Isaac Dutoy.

Item: My will and desire is that my beloved wife Elizabeth enjoy and possess the remaining part of my estate during her natural life and after her decease to be equally divided between my children hereafter named, that is James, John, Peter, William, Joseph, Mary, Elizabeth, and Sarah and that she possess the land bequeather to my son Joseph which included the plantation during her natural life.

Item: I do nominate and appoint my beloved wife and Joseph Chandler to be Executors of this my last will and testament. Declaring it to be my last will which I will have executed after my death. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of November Anno Dom, one thousand seven hundred and fifty.

At a court held for Lunenburg County the Second Day of April 1751:

This last will and testament of John Peter Bilbo deceased was exhibited in court by Elizabeth Bilbo Executris therein named who made oath thereto according to law and the same was proved by the oath of all the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of the said Executrix who having first together with John Twitty her Security entered into bond and acknowledged the same. Certificate was granted her for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form.
