The Lymbery Bible Family Pages

The Lymbery Family Bible is typical of the old Victorian Family Bibles, but in this case is an enormous book, weighing in at just under half a hundredweight! It is in fairly good condition, probably because it's sheer size and weight did not lend itself to frequent use. In fact it looks as though it has never been opened for it's real use - only for entering family information. The front cover has become detached, but the book is shortly to be repaired, and will stay in the possession of the modern Lymbery family.

There are four pages of the usual family information entered at the beginning of the book - Births, Marriages and Deaths, and Miscellaneous. Judging by the handwriting and dates of the earliest entries, I would hazard the guess that this Bible was probably presented to Harold Lymbery (the eldest son) by his father, Walter Roe Lymbery, on his 21st birthday.

These pages of family information have been scanned (with great difficulty!) and the resulting images displayed here.
