Ulrich and Sarah Duckett Keener's graves are at Campground Cemetery. They have a large double tombstone and when I walked around to the back of it I found an inscription about our Grandfather Ulrich. This tombstone was evidently erected by the Methodist Church in honor of his work. The inscription is as follows:
                                Rev. Ulrich Keener
Methodist Episcopal Circuit-Rider. First resident missionary of Echota
Mission, a church-boarding school, established in
1850 for Indians remaining after "The Trail of Tears".
Preacher-teacher at Echota until death in 1856.

In regards to the cabin, the plaque on the cabin itself reads:

                                Keener Craft Shop
                                Rev. Horace Ulrich Keener
1st resident missionary to Cherokee Indians.
Appointed by Holston Conference, lived in this log cabin known as the
                                original parsonage built in 1847.

This log cabin was purchased in 1959 from
the Soco Community Club by Dr. Walter Miller then Chairman of
                                Board of Missions of W.N.C.C.

This log cabin stands today as a tribute and memorial to
                                Rev. Ulrich Keener.

The sign out on the road in front of the cabin from the North Carolina
State Division of Archives andHistory reads:

                                Echota Mission
Methodist. Maintained by Holston Conference for Cherokee c.
                                1840-1885. School established 1850.Missionary's house stands 50
                                yards north.

(My thanks to Teri Webb, my 2nd Cousins through
Ulrich Worley Keener, son of John Soul(e) Keener,
son of Rev. Ulrich Keener, for the above information.)
