Cryus Smith b January 1,1845 in Dover Wayne OH.By 1850 his family had moved several times finally purchasing on time a 30 acre tract in Cass Co MI.Cyrus had a brother John Wilson Smith and probable 2 sisters called Ephie and Jeannie.
Cryus served in the 11th Michigan Voulunteer Infantry.According to a newspaper article,Cryus returned to his parents home when he mustered out of the Army in September 1864.Cryus married Elvah (or Eva) Finnette Weston in New Oregon Iowa on September 9,1968.Cryus and his wife settled in Minnesots where they produced five children.Elvah Smith died in Minneapolis on June 18,1889.Cryus died in Portland OR on April 21,1924.
