The John Martin
Family
of
Greenock, Scotland

John Martin was involved with the surgar refining industry in Greenock, associated with the firm Hoyle, Martin & Co.. He became involved in municipale affairs which lead to being elected as Provost of Greeock in 1852. His election was protested by another candidate and resulted in a chalege before the courts. After several court presantations he was affirmed as Provost , holding this position until his death.

Notes in Lady McClure's book state the Ian had received his LLB and WS from Edinburgh Univ. Scotland

Notes in Lady McLure's book of records states that Douglas Wilson in an M. D., of Edinburgh, Harrogate York , writing however is not that of Lady McClure (could be that of Lillias Macfie of Clarenceville however)- entry made for Ian Douglas 1912, would appear to be that of Robin Macfie, of Clarenceville

Notes in Lady McClure's register,again assumed to have been written by Lillias Macfie of Clarenceville , states that Mr Bow was M B Master Surgeon , Edinburgh Scotland.

Notes in Lady McLure's register book, have been written by several others, including Lillias Macfie, Robin Macfie, and it would appear even by Murray Macfie .
For Jessie E Martin Kerr it has been stated that she served as a nurse in the German war of 1914-1916
For Margaret Helen is has been stated that she served as a nurse in the German war 1914-1916 in Servia and was taken prisoner by the Germans.
For Norman Munro it is written that he served in the German war of 1914.

For William, it has been stated that he served in the German War 1914 , RN HMS George V

For James Munro, is has been stated that he was a Major , and served in the German War of 1914.
