Nathan[iel] Maddox
c.1765 ~

Was Nathan named after a descendant of Corneliujs Maddox?  Or Alexander, a different but possibly related line, who had a son named Nathan too?

In Chalres Co., MD, where Cornelius and his descendantsa lived, there were many Bozmans.  In 1755 when the French & Indian War (fighting the British and their Indiansa) was fought in the US, colonists were required to choose sides.  In Charles Co., MD, Durham Parish, Bryantown Hundred, Nathan Maddox Jr. signed oath of allegiance to the British along with Ignatius, James Jr, James Sr, and Jonathan Maddox.

A Nathaniel Maddox b.c. 1735 married Prudence Bozman and died in Bedford/Franklin Co., VA, after 1828.  Was that Nathaniel the one this Nathan was named after?

The 1790 Personal Tax List B of Fauquier Co., VA, included the following:

John Mattox
George Mattox
Nathon Mattox
Nathaniel Mattox

John and George were brothers.  Was Nathon/Nathaniel their brother also?

George Sr's brother, James, over in Goochland Co., had a son named Nathan b.c. 1760 in Charles Co., MD.  That Nathan m. Michelle Roby c. 1790 somewhere in Virginia.  And he died c. 1829 in Montgomery Co., OH.

Was this Nathan another of George Sr's sons and named after his nephew in Goochland Co?

Where did Nathan and Nathaniel go?  They were not in Fauquier Co., VA, in the 1800 census, though possible brothers George and John were there.  The following year they went to Fleming Co., KY.  Did Nathan go to Kentucky also?

In 1825, Nathan Maddox married Nancy Malone in Mason Co., KY, which is next to Fleming Co., KY.  [

The 1830 census of Henry Co., KY, has a Nathaniel Maddox b. 1760-70 living alone.  Had his wife died?  Or had he gone ahead to get settled and then send for his wife?  That same census of Greenup Co., KY, has a Nathaniel Maddox b. 1741-50 living with apparently a wife and two younger sons.
