Francis M. Maddox
1846 ~ ?

Francis M. [Marion or Milton?] Maddox was born 1846 in Bracken Co., KY.  He was 4 years old in the 1850 census with his family.  His mother died of cholera when he was six.  His memories of her must have been sadly vague.  He was with his father in the 1860 census of Douglas Co., IL, age 15.  William had remarried.

He enlisted in the 56th Rgt., Illinois Infantry, at Troy Grove, IL, during the Civil War.

I have not found him anywhere after that.  Was he killed in the war?  Or was he the following person?

Francis M. Maddox was in the Louisville, KY, city directory in 1890 as being a travel agent living at 1526 First Street.

I have a letter from Bob Maddox ([email protected]) wherein he stated his Francis Marion Maddox was supposedly born in Shelby Co., KY, according to a family letter.  He married Alberta Ringo Johnson of Montgomery Co., KY.  His only son, Francis Marion Maddox, was born in Louisville, KY, June 5, 1888 according to the letter.  He had two older sisters ~ Elizabeth who moved to St. Louis, MO, and Nancy who moved to Rochester, NY.  Bob found him in Cook Co., IL, in 1900.
