Alford (John, #2) was born bet. 1770-1774, according to census
records, in Bute Co., NC before Franklin Co. was formed 1778 from
Bute Co. He probably married Alice Wright, daughter of Wingfield
Wright Jr. and Patience Nicholson, circa 1795? at Halifax Co.,
NC; Though unproven, Alice's foster father James Wright (married
to Alice's sister Nancy) was in the same places at same time as
Isaac Alford and two of Isaac's sons were named Winfield and Wright
Alford. (There were several Wingfield Wright descendants of a
Wright marriage to Ruth Wingfield and the family has been carefully
studied; See WINGFIELD-WRIGHT
Ancestry.)
He probably married 2nd Fanny Sweeney on 19 Sep 1832 at Pike Co.,
IL; this Isaac Halford is presumed to be 2nd marriage of our Isaac;
no other evidence. No wife is mentioned on his Texas documents
but his Texas Land Grant was that of a married man. He died circa
1857 at Washington Co., TX, intestate, and his estate had a lengthy
administration interrupted by the Civil War, with no widow mentioned.

Alford, b. 3 Jan. 1804, Franklin Co., NC, married (1) Eliza Derrington,
28 Feb 1829, Perry Co., IL (mother of all his children. He married
(2) Mrs. Catherine Garner, 31 Jul 1868, Gonzales Co., TX. He married
(3) Elizabeth Blackburn (Blackman), 20 Apr 1872, Gonzales Co.,
TX. He died on 12 Nov 1877, Gonzales Co., TX at age 73. SEE WINFIELD

Chloe Alford,
b. circa 1807, NC, married Thomas Whitley, 12 Apr 1823, Williamson
Co., TN. She died bef 1857, TX. Heirs mentioned in father's estate
settlement
Sarah "Sallie"
Alford, b. circa 1811, NC, married Archibald Whitley, 8 Nov 1825,
Boone Co., MO. They lived 1866 at Austin Co., TX, when father's
estate settled.
Hatch Alford,
b. circa 1815, Franklin Co., NC, applied for a Texas land grant
on same day as his brother Wright. Hatch married Martha Jane LONGLEY
(daughter of Joseph Longley and Priscilla Patterson), 25 Dec 1848,
Washington Co., TX (her brother Campbell Longley, M.G., officiating
and her brothers Caleb and Posey gave her away). Hatch was wounded
in a leg in the Civil War, and he died circa 1867 from blood poisoning
caused by hitting the leg on a stump while plowing a new field.

Wright Alford,
b. circa 1820, NC. He married (1) Susan Grimes, 1 Jul 1845, Washington
Co., TX. He married (2) Anna Maria Kemp, 6 Dec 1852. He had Texas

was 1870 census, Eagle Lake, Colorado Co., TX.
