Both of my parents came from Archbald, PA.
My father's name was Joseph P. Mahady who married A. Alberta Reedy

Grandparents: Daniel Mahady who married Hannah Munley.

Great Grandparents:
Ellen (Eleanor) Monaghan (County Mayo) married Martin Mahady, they moved
to Glasgow Scotland then to the US. Apparently, Martin died and Ellen
then married his brother John Mahady. They had five children:
Martin
Mary (died as baby)
Mary Ellen
Bridget (Bea)
Daniel (my grandfather)
It appears from the Pennsylvania Census Index from 1870 that John &
Martin Mahady show up in the statistics from the township of Archibald
Blakely and Olyphant Blakely
in 1870 John Mahady was 40 years old and Martin Mahady was 37 years old.
If you have any connection to the Luzerne/Lackawanna County Mahady's or
the Mahady's from Mayo, please let me know.

Dear Janice, Martin, & Michael,
I just wrote you a nice long message that generated a fatal error &
crashed the program, so I'll spare you :-)
Suffice it to say what a thrill it is for us to have found a match
which will hopefully be helpful to you. I believe it is a first for the
Mahady website, and fulfills the very purpose of the site. It also
shows the value of recording information received into a common
database. Please review the following and let us know of any errors or
omissions. Also, if you can fill in more dates, places, and events it
would help. More importantly, if you have more info - old family tales,
memories, biographical info, that will make all our Mahadys more than a
simple collection of names and dates on a pedigree chart .
I wish we had more. We are always searching so visit the site
regularly, and let us know if you find more. I would also recommend

My ancester William Mahady left the Longford area in the 1830's.
He sailed from Dublin because brothers of girlfriend were chasing
him. He arrived in Charleston S.C. He started a family in Tennesee,
my family,and then left and started another in Canada.His grandson
William,my greatgranddad,moved to Central Pa to work in a steelmill.
My two uncles Tom Mahady and Paul Mahady still live in the Mifflin
County area as does my mother Phyllis and aunt Henrietta.I have also
seen the Mahady name in Harrisburg and Scranton Pennsylvannia.
I have seen the name O'Mahada listed as the Irish for Mahady.
