Almira Harrison and John Tatterson
Descendants of Almira Harrison and John Tatterson, Almira Harrison was the daughter of Ephraim Harrison and his 2nd wife, Lucinda Reynolds/Reynnells.  Family data contributed by Marlene Seifert.

Almira or Elmira as her name was recorded on the marriage record, married John A. Tatterson on 15 May 1856 in Waushara County, Wisconsin.  Almira and John A. Tatterson had two sons: William who died sometime after the 1860 census and George, who was born on 27 March 1857.  Almira died soon after William's birth.  John A. Tatterson then remarried on 19 February 1860.

In the 1860 Federal Census, John Tatterson and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth, were enumerated in Marion, Post Office Spring Lake, Waushara County, Wisconsin, recorded on the 12th of July, with both of Almira's sons (indexed as "Paterson", the P could also be interpreted as a T):

#1165  1057  John Paterson  28    m      Farmer    1800    400     " [NY]

                    George            3     m                                      Wis
                    William            1     m                                      Wis

In the 1870 Federal Census, of the Town of Marion, Post Office Spring Lake, Waushara County, Wisconsin, recorded on the 22nd of June, George was still listed in his father's household along with his half brothers and sisters (indexed as "Patterson", an obvious mistake when the census was indexed, definitely a T):
#65  66  Tatterson, John    43    m    Farmer              2000  900    New York

John Tatterson was listed in the 1880 and 1900 Federal censuses.  He listed his birth as April 1827 in New York in 1900.

The two sons of Almira Harrison and John Tatterson were:

13.4.5.1 William Tatterson, was born in about 1859 in Wisconsin and died after 1860.

13.4.5.2 George Tatterson, was born on 27 March 1857 and died in 1941.  He is buried in Tigerton Cemetery in Fairbanks Township, Shawano County, Wisconsin.  George married Adeline Fields on 27 March 1877 (marriage certificate).  In the 1880 Federal Census, George and "Adline" were living in Metomen Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin.  George gave his age as 23, his place of birth as Wisconsin and listed his parents place of birth as New York.  Adeline, was age 19, born in Wisconsin and listed her father's place of birth as England and her mother's birthplace as Illinois.  They had one daughter in 1880, Edith, age 1 year.

Twenty years later, George and "Addie" were enumerated in Germania Township, Shawano County, Wisconsin, ED# 161, sheet 1B on the 2nd, 4th and 5th of June (both George and Addie stated that they had been married for 23 years; Addie stated that she had given birth to 4 living children--Marlene Seifert, noted that the Edith, listed as age 17 is actually their daughter Hazel, age 7):

#15  17  Taterson, Geo    Head       Mch  1858  42  Wisconsin  Long Island  Wisconsin  Farmer
Addie    Wife       Feby 1861  39  Wisconsin  England       Illinois
Edith  Daughter    May  1883  17  Wisconsin  Wisconsin  Wisconsin    Servant

George and Addie moved back east in 1910 and were enumerated in Brown's Creek, McDowell County, West Virginia, ED# 76, sheet 9B, recorded on the 19th of April (George and Addie both stated that they had been married for 33 years; Addie stated that she had given birth to 5 living children--indexed as "George Patterson"):

#157  159  Tatterson, George  Head  52  Wisconsin  New York  Michigan  Engineer  Saw Mill
Addie  Wife   49  Wisconsin  England    Illinois
John   Son     9   Wisconsin Wisconsin  Wisconsin

George and Addie returned to Wisconsin before 1920, their son, John, born in 1901, was age 19 and still living in their 1920 household in Germania Township, Shawano County, Wisconsin, ED# 101, sheet 3A, recorded on the 15th, 16th and 17th of January.  In the 1920 Federal Census, George and Adeline gave their ages as 62 and 58 respectively.  He was still engaged in farming in 1920.

In the 1930 Federal Census of Germania Township, Shawano County, Wisconsin, ED# 15, sheet 4B, recorded on the 10th of April, he listed his age as 72 and his occupation as retired.  George changed his father's place of birth from New York to Rhode Island and correctly stated that his mother was born in Michigan.  Addie gave her age as 69 and again gave her father's place of birth as England and her mother's birthplace as Illinois.

George's obituary appears online, the date was not listed [sic, probably 1941].  An original copy is shown below, submitted by Pat Hammon and Valarie Eve Totten:

Children of George Tatterson and Adeline Fields:

13.4.5.2.1 Edith Tatterson, was born in February 1879 in Wisconsin.  Edith is the "Mrs. Chas. Krause" listed in her father's 1941 obituary as deceased.  Charles and Edith were living in Tigerton Village, Fairbanks Township, Shawano County, Wisconsin, ED# 161, sheet 13B, in the 1900 Federal Census, recorded on the 30th of June (Edith and Charles both stated that they had been married for 5 years; Edith stated that she had given birth to 2 living children):

In the 1920 Federal Census of Germania Township, Shawano County, Wisconsin, ED# 101, sheet 1A, recorded on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of January, her name was recorded as Ida (she may have fudged her age, a bit, she stated that she was 35).  She and Charles still had a large family, the children listed in the 1920 home were: Helen, age 15; Nina, age 12; Ida, age 11; a son, "Clide", age 9; a daughter, Lavina, age 7 [difficult to read]; and the baby,  a son, Alton, age 4.

In 1930 Charles and Edith were again enumerated in Germania Township, Shawano County, ED# 15, sheet 4A (Herman Leitzke was also recorded on the same page).  He was still farming, Edith got her age back on track and stated that she was 51.  Their children listed in the 1930 household were: Clyde, age 19; Rena, age 22; Lavine, age 16 and Alton, age 14.  Edith is listed in the transcription of Tigerton Cemetery, as Edith Krause 1879-1934 (it appears from the transcription that she is buried near her father).  Their children were:

13.4.5.2.1.1 Esther Krause, was born in December 1896 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.1.2 Doris Krause, was born in December 1898 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.1.3 Illa Krause, was born in about 1901 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.1.4 Helen Krause, was born in about 1903 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.1.5 Rena Krause, was born in about 1906 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.1.6 Norma Krause, was born in about 1909 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.1.7 Clyde Krause, was born in about 1911 in Wisconsin.  Clyde Krause is listed in the SSNDI Death index, birth listed as 24 October 1910, date of death listed as June 1985 in Green Bay, Brown County, Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.1.8 Lavina Krause, was born in about 1913 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.1.9 Alton Krause, was born in about 1916 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.2 Ethel Tatterson, was born in about 1884 in Wisconsin (cemetery transcription gives her date of birth as 9 September 1884, see link below).  Ethel is the "Mrs. Herman Leitzke listed in her father's 1941 obituary as deceased.  From the 1910 Federal Census of Germania Township, Shawano County, Wisconsin, ED# 145, sheet 4A, recorded on the 28th of April (Ethel and Herman both stated that they had been married for 9 years; Ethel stated that she had given birth to 4 living children):

#56  57  Leitzke, Herman  Head  31  Wisconsin  Ger German  Wisconsin  Farmer  General farm
Ethel  Wife   26  Wisconsin  Wisconsin    Wisconsin
Julian   Son     8  Wisconsin  Wisconsin    Wisconsin
Herma  Daughter  7  Wisconsin  Wisconsin  Wisconsin
Lydia   Daughter  5  Wisconsin  Wisconsin  Wisconsin
Adaline  Daughter  10/12  Wisconsin  Wisconsin  Wisconsin

The 1920 Federal Census is difficult to make out--Herman J. Leitzke was widowed by 1920 and was enumerated in Germania Township, Shawano County, ED# 101, sheet 3A, recorded on the 15th, 16th and 17th of January (the same page as his in-laws, George and Adeline Tatterson).  The children listed in the 1920 household were: Julian, a son, age 18; daughters: Lydia, age 16; Herma, age 15; Adeline, age 10; Flora, age 8 [her name is very difficult to make out] and a daughter, Adrian, age 6, who turned out to be a son in the 1930 census.

By 1930, Herman had remarried, he and his 2nd wife, Olga, were enumerated again in Germania Township, Shawano County, ED# 15, sheet 4A (Charles and Edith Krause were also enumerated on the same page).  Their children listed in the 1930 household were: his son, Adrian, age 17 and his two step-children, "Loyd", age 15 and Bernice, age 13 (I could not make out the last name of his two step-children).

Ethel (Tatterson) Leitzke died on 9 November 1919 and Herman Leitzke died on 14 July 1964, they are both listed in the transcription of Tigerton Cemetery.  The children of Ethel Tatterson and Herman J. Leitzke were:

13.4.5.2.2.1 Julian G. Leitzke, was born in about 1902 in Wisconsin.  The Wisconsin Birth Index gives his date of birth as 23 July 1901 in Shawano County, the SSN# Death Index lists his date of birth as 25 July 1901, date of death listed as December 1981 in Tigerton, Shawano County, Wisconsin.  He is listed in the transcription of Tigerton Cemetery (buried next to Julian is: Erna Leitzke 1897-1972, I have not located him in the 1930 census).

13.4.5.2.2.2 Herma Leitzke, was born in about 1903 in Wisconsin.  She apparently did marry, she is listed in the transcription of Tigerton Cemetery as "Herma Smith", buried on the Leitzke plot near her parents.

13.4.5.2.2.3 Lydia Leitzke, was born in about 1905 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.2.4 Adeline Leitzke, was born in about 1909 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.2.5 Flora Leitzke, was born in about 1912 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.2.6 Adrian Arthur Leitzke, was born in about 1914 in Wisconsin.  He is listed in the Minnesota Death Index 1908-2002, date of birth listed as 2 December 1913, place of birth listed as Tigerton, Wisconsin. date of death listed as 8 June 2000 in Duluth, Saint Louis County, Minnesota, mother's maiden name listed as Tatterson.

13.4.5.2.3 Flora B. Tatterson, was born in about 1886 in Wisconsin.  She married Otmer Erickson (spelled "Autmar" in her father's obituary).  In 1910 they were recorded in Wittenberg, Shawano County, Wisconsin, ED# 162, sheet 9B, on the 20th of June (they both stated that they had been married for 6 years; Flora stated that she had given birth to 2 living children).  Flora listed her age as 24, "Ottmar", was age 30, born in Norway.  They had two sons in 1910: Berwyn, age 5 (who turned out to be a daughter in 1920), and Everett, age 2.  Ottmar stated that the year of his immigration to the U.S. was 1880.
Her father's obituary stated that the Erickson's resided in Iron River, Michigan (1941).  Which is almost exactly where they were in 1920.  From the 1920 Federal Census of Bates Township, Iron County, Michigan, ED# 174, sheet 5A, recorded on the 2nd of March:

#54  84  Erikson, Otmer    Head       39          Norway      laborer  "  "  [Cedar Camp]
                          Flora    Wife        34          Wisconsin
                       Berwon   Daughter   15          Wisconsin
                       Everett     Son         11 11/12   Wisconsin
                        Otmer      Son          9          Wis
                      Kenneth     Son          5          Wis

In the 1930 Federal Census they were living in Iron River Township, Iron County, Michigan, ED# 12, sheet 8A, recorded on the 18th of April.  The image is terrible, it looks like Otmer was age 49, occupation listed as laborer, Flora B. was age 44.  Their children names are just as difficult to make out: a daughter, Berwin, age 25; sons Otmer and Kenneth were ages 18 and 16; a daughter, Arlina, age 4 years and 2 months and a son, Clinton, age 1 year and 7 months (Arlina and Clinton were both born in Michigan.  Their oldest son, Everett, was married and living in the next household, I could not make out the name of his wife.  The children of Flora Tatterson and Otmer Erickson were:

13.4.5.2.3.1 Berwyn Erickson, was born in about 1905 in Wisconsin.

13.4.5.2.3.2 Everett Erickson, was born in about 1908 in Wisconsin.  Everett S. Erickson is listed in the SSN# Death Index, date of birth listed as 26 February 1908, date of death listed as 15 June 1998 in Iron River, Iron County, Michigan.

13.4.5.2.3.3 Otmer Erickson, was born in about 1910 in Wisconsin.  Otmer Erickson is listed in the SSN# Death Index, date of birth listed as 7 June 1910, date of death listed as 1 March 1993 in Iron River, Iron County, Michigan.

13.4.5.2.3.4 Kenneth Erickson, was born in about 1915 in Wisconsin.  Kenneth Erickson is listed in the SSN# Death Index, date of birth listed as 13 February 1915, date of death listed as 27 May 2003 in Iron River, Iron County, Michigan.

13.4.5.2.3.5 Arlena Erickson, was born in about 1926 in Michigan.

13.4.5.2.3.6 Clinton Erickson, was born in about 1928 in Michigan.

13.4.5.2.4 Hazel Valarie Tatterson, was born in May 1893 in Wisconsin.  The SSNDI lists her date of birth as 18 May 1891, date of death listed as May 1974, last address listed as Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware, issued in Pennsylvania.  She was listed as "Mrs. Will Lucas of Philadelphia" in her father's obituary in 1941.

Hazel Tatterson married William Paris Lucas in 1909 possibly in McDowell or Mercer County West Virginia.  His WW II draft registration recorded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, dated 26 April 1942 listed his date of birth as 16 February 1887 in Giles County, Virginia, his wife as Mrs. Hazel Lucas, height 5'10, weight 200 lbs. with blue eyes and gray hair.

In the 1910 Federal Census of East River District, Mercer County, West Virginia ED# 129, sheet 29B William and Edith were recorded as boarders in the household of Charles and Dallie Bingham.  They both stated that they had been married for 0 years and that this was their first marriage, he listed his occupation as a brakeman for the railroad.

In 1920 they were enumerated in Narrows Town, Giles County, Virginia ED# 31, sheet 5B.  William P. Lucas listed his age as 32 and wife Hazel V. stated that she was 28.  He was again working for the steam railroad as a brakeman.  They had two daughters listed in the 1920 household:  Lorene age 5 and Adeline R. age 2 years and 9 months (both born in Virginia).  Pat Hammon and Valarie Eve Totten also submitted postcards sent from Hazel to her mother and another from Adeline to Hazel.

In 1930 Hazel and William were recorded in Rahway, Union County, New Jersey ED# 131, sheet 6A.  William listed his age as 43 and Hazel stated that she was age 39.  His occupation was listed as a foreman for the railroad, the children listed in the 1930 household were: Laverne age 15; Rita age 13; son Calvin age 9; a daughter June age 5 and his mother-in-law Lou Emma Lucas [sic, should read his mother] age 75 a widow and his sister-in-law [sic, should read his sister] Effie Lucas age 52, married and Effie's son, Russell Lucas age 19, listed as a nephew.

Hazel and William Lucas had 4 children:

13.4.5.2.4.1 Laverne L. Lucas, was born on 11 July 1914 in Virginia and died on 3 June 1967 in Los Angeles, California, mother's maiden name recorded as "Tatterso" [sic, should read Tatterson, taken from the California Death Index].  Laverne married David Kenneth Totten, Sr. in Kent County Maryland on 24 August 1931.  David was born on 15 February 1910 and died on 27 November 1992, last residence listed as Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama, issued in Maine (SSNDI).

13.4.5.2.4.2 Rita Adaline Lucas, was born on 17 March 1917 in Virginia and died on 2 August 2002, last address listed as Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware, issued in Pennsylvania.  She married William J. Barrentine, he was born on 8 May 1913 and died on 6 May 1998, last address listed as Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware (SSNDI).

Tatterson/Lucas family data compiled and submitted with photos by Pat Hammon and Valarie Eve Totten.

13.4.5.2.5 John Dexter Tatterson, was born in about 1901 in Wisconsin.  John D. Tatterson was living in Gridley Township, Butte County, California, ED# 21, sheet 7A, recorded on the 3rd, 5th and 6th of May.  He was married and working as a foreman in a peach cannery.  His wife, Fay E., was age 24, born in Oklahoma, father's place of birth listed as Missouri, mother's birthplace listed as Texas.  They had no children in 1930.  John D. Tatterson is listed in the California Death Index, date of birth listed as 14 October 1901 in Wisconsin, date of death listed as 20 November 1985 in Sacramento.  His mother's maiden name is listed as "Field".  His obituary and the obituary of his wife, Elva Sophie (Nicolaus) Tatterson appear online, transcribed from the Sacramento Bee.  Elva S. Tatterson also appears in the California Death Index, date of birth listed as 12 June 1908 in California, date of death listed as 6 November 1976 in Sacramento (appears to have been his second marriage, another researcher listed this as her second marriage).  From their obituaries their four sons were:
