Descendants of Harriet A. Harrison and Martin Van Duzer Descendants of Harriet A. Harrison and Martin Van Duzer.  Harriet was the oldest daughter of Bazel Harrison, Jr. and Almira Abbey.

In the 1870 Federal Census of Prairie Ronde Township, Post Office Schoolcraft, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, enumerated on the 2nd of July, their household listed:

Their son, "Jessie" was incorrectly recorded as a female in 1870.  In the 1880 Federal Census of Prairie Ronde Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, ED# 139, page 273A, enumerated on the 3rd and 4th of June, their household appeared as:

After Harriet's death in 1893, Martin was listed in the 1900 Federal Census of Schoolcraft Township, Schoolcraft Village, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, ED# 131, 6A, enumerated on the ninth of June:

Martin Van Duzer died in 1902, he and Harriet are both buried in Schoolcraft Cemetery, in Schoolcraft, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.
 
Harriet Ann Harrison and Martin Van Duzer's children were:
(13.10.1.1) Alonzo Van Duzer, was born on 11 March 1864 and died on 23 April 1937 (his marker reads that he was born in 1867).  He is buried in Schoolcraft Cemetery.  Alonzo did marry, in the 1910 Federal Census of Schoolcraft Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, ED# 163, sheet 3B, his household listed (Alonzo and Annie stated that they had been married for 0 years--newlyweds?, Annie stated that she had given birth to 1 living child and that this was her 2nd marriage):

I have have not been unable to locate Alonzo in the 1920 census--in the 1930 Federal Census of Schoolcraft Village, Schoolcraft Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, ED# 55, sheet 6A, he was single, age 66 and listed his occupation as a laborer on a poultry farm.


(13.10.1.2)Jesse Martin Van Duzer, was born on 1 January 1867 and died on 13 July 1929 (the photo of his marker shows 13 July as his date of death and the transcription of Mountview Cemetery listed his date of internment as 16 July).  He married Nellie E. Wagar in about 1893, Nellie was born on 8 January 1870 and died on 2 September 1957 (the photo of her marker reads 2 September and the transcription of Mountview Cemetery listed her date of internment as 31 October).  They are both buried in Mountview Cemetery, in Billings, Yellowstone County, Montana.

In the 1910 Federal Census, Jesse and Nellie were living in Prairie Ronde Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, ED# 128, sheet 6A.  They both stated that they had been married for 7 years, their daughter Norma A., born in January 1897, was listed as age 3.

In 1920, the entire Van Duzer family, Jesse, Nellie, and their two daughters, Norma and Freda, were living on a farm in School District #15, in Yellowstone County, Montana.  In the 1930 Census, after Jesse's death, Nellie was living alone, Norma and Freda were not living in the same district.  Jesse's obituary extracted from the "Schoolcraft Express", was dated 1 August 1929:

JESSE MARTIN VAN DUZER - for 22 yrs. a resident of Waco, Ill [sic, Montana] in the Yellowstone Valley, 30 mi North of Hardin died Sat. July 13th in Billings Hospital of Cancer.  he was born in Prairie Ronde Jan 1, 1867.  He was a farmer here until 1904.  1907 moved to Cosey & Waco.  He leaves widow & 2 dau., Norma A. Vanduzer a clerk in the Beartooth forest service office at Billings & Freda M. VanDuzer at home, a bro. Alonzo Van Duzer & sister, Mrs. Alvin Rosen of Schoolcraft.  Member of Lodge no. 118 A.& F.M. & A.M.  Billings Mountain View Cem."
Their two daughters were:
(13.10.1.2.1) Norma Ann Van Duzer, was born on 15 January 1897 and died on 22 December 1975 (the photo of her marker shows 22 December as her date of death and her date of internment listed in the transcription of Mountview Cemetery as 30 December).  She married Clarence Charles Holt.  Clarence died on 11 September 1967 (his marker shows 11 September as his date of death and the transcription of Mountview Cemetery listed his date of internment as 18 September).  They are both buried in Mountview Cemetery (photo).

(13.10.1.2.2) Freda May Van Duzer, was born on 28 August 1904.  Freda provided portions of this information, she had collected information and had many of the family archives.  Freda died on 12 December 1992 (the photo of her marker shows 12 December as her date of death and the transcription of Mountview Cemetery listed her date of internment as 18 December).

(13.10.1.3) Harriet Ann Van Duzer, was born on 11 May 1871 and died on 9 June 1937.  She is buried in Schoolcraft Cemetery, in Schoolcraft, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  She married Alvin Rosen on 18 November 1903.  Alvin was born on 7 April 1860 and died on 14 October 1939, he is also buried in Schoolcraft Cemetery.  The obituary of Harriet Ann (Van Duzer) Rosen submitted by Jan Getz:

Gr. gr. dau. of Judge Bazel Harrison, 1st Judge of Kalamazoo & 1st white settler. 1903 married Alvin Rosen, 1 dau Evelyn Gail Rosen, Member of Episcopal Ch. & Eastern Star & Rebecca Lodge. Surv. by husband & dau. Evelyn a teacher in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Rosen preceded in death by her parents & 2 bro. Jean [sic, Jesse] Van Duzer who died 1930 [sic, 1929] & late Alonzo Van Duzer who died Apr 21, 1937. Funeral from Smith Funeral Home, Rev Laity of Kalamazoo, burial Schoolcraft Cemetery."

Alvin was married (1st) to Olive Ayers on 13 September 1885.  Olive was born on 5 September 1867 in Putnam County, Missouri and died on 14 June 1901.  Alvin and Olive had two daughters:
(1) Flora May Rosen, born on 17 April 1893 and died on 19 February 1976.  She married Bertram Bathrick.
(2) Grace Gladys Rosen, born on 23 September 1894.
Alvin and Harriet had a daughter:
(13.10.1.3.1) Evelyn Gail Rosen, was born on 20 December 1905, in Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan and died in 1995.  She married Joe Anderson Hart  on 14 February 1942, in Bryan, Ohio.  Joe was born in 1908 and died in 1961.  Evelyn was extremely interested in family history and owned many possessions of her great granddad, Dr. Bazel Harrison, including a collection of old family portraits. She provided much of this information.  They are both buried in Schoolcraft Cemetery.
