"Joseph returned to farming in Wabasha County, Minnesota after the war. On July 3, 1866 he married Margaret Jordan Curtis at Red Wing, Minnesota. The marriage ceremony was performed by Justice of the Peace Frank Ives and witnessed by John Thomas and John Jordan.
Margaret Jordan, Maggie as she was called, was born on November 18, 1845, in Manchester, Lancaster, England. She was the daughter of John and Ellen Miller Jordan who lived at 24 Davis Street, Salford District. He was a calico printer in a textile mill. John and Ellen Jordan were born in Cork County, Ireland. Sometime before 1858 the family came to America. The trip took seven weeks to cross the Atlantic Ocean. It is not known if the Jordan family moved directly to Minnesota or stopped elsewhere." Their children were:

In the 1900 Federal Census of Akeley Township, Hubbard County, Minnesota, ED# 79, sheet 8B, enumerated on 12 June, their household listed (Thomas and Alice both stated that they had been married for 14 years; Alice also stated that she had given birth to 3 living children; Grace stated that she had been married for 7 years and had given birth to 1 living child--her husband was not listed in the household):

Tom and Alice were again enumerated living in Mountrail County, North Dakota in the 1920 Federal Census. His age was listed as 62 and his occupation was listed as a "car cleaner" for the railroad. Alice gave her age as 52. Their three sons were all living on their own. In the 1930 Federal Census of Idaho Township, Mountrail County, North Dakota, ED# 51, sheet 10B, Thomas J. gave his age as 72 and listed his occupation as a "farmer". Alice was now age 61. Thomas stated that he was married at age 28, Alice stated that she was 17 at the time of their marriage. The Miley family eventually made it to California--
Thomas John Miley is listed in the California Death Index, his date of birth is listed as 21 December 1856, place of birth listed as Ohio, date of death 16 November 1940 in Butte County, California at age 83 years. Alice May Miley is also listed in the California Death Index, her date of birth is listed as 14 October 1868, place of birth listed as Minnesota, father's last name listed as Harrison, date of death listed as 7 November 1952 in Butte County, California at age 84 years. Their three sons were:

13.4.7.3 Henry Jordan Harrison, was born on 26 February 1872 in Wisconsin and died 0n 26 April 1925 in Leavenworth, Washington. Henry married Mary Ellen Eddins on 19 January 1895 in Green Prairie, Minnesota. Their children were:

Lillian married Ellsworth Harrison Warhurst in 1914 in Long Beach, California. Donald married Arlene Chloe Hoffman on 6 August 1938 in Yuma, Arizona. He served in the Navy during WW II. 13.4.7.5 Grace Bernice Harrison, born on 6 July 1875 in Minnesota and died 1 August 1953 in Los Angeles, California (California Death Index, father's surname listed as Harrison, mother's maiden name listed as Jordan, birthplace listed as Minnesota). Grace married Eugene "Gene" Moore in about 1983. Eugene Leslie Moore is listed in the California Death Index, date of birth listed as 3 September 1871 in Wisconsin, date of death listed as 23 December 1946 in Los Angeles, his mother's maiden name was listed as Otis.
Grace was listed in the household of her sister and brother-in-law, Tom and Alice Miley (see above) in the 1900 census. In the 1910 Federal Census they were enumerated in Ward 5 of of Keokuk City, Jackson Township, Lee County, Iowa ED# 74, sheet 9A (both Eugene and Grace stated that they had been married for 17 Years and this was their first marriage; Grace stated that she had given birth to 2 living children, the household address was 1315 Fulton St.):

In 1920 they were again recorded on Keokuk City, Lee County, ED# 73, sheet 5A. Eugene was 48 and listed his occupation as a "Lock Master" at "U.S. Locks". Grace was 44 and working as a bookkeeper in a bank, their daughter, Grace L., was age 18.
In 1930 Grace and Eugene were living in Tustin City, Orange County, California ED# 87, sheet 8A. Grace was age 54 and Eugene was age 58. From census records their two children were:

Jane was born on 13 September 1863 in Diamond Bluff, Wisconsin and died on 11 October 1948 in Crosby, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Daniel and Emilina Coroner Comstock. Their children were:80 years old, born June 1, 1907 [SSN Death Index lists her DOB as Jan] in ND, died in the Aitkin Community Hospital; spouse: Carl A. Oberg; father: Frank Harrison; mother Esther Robinson; burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Emily, arrangements by Koop Funeral Home in Crosby, Minnesota.Her obituary from the Aitkin Independent Age:"Charlotte E. Oberg, 80, of Little Pine Rt., formerly of Crosby, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 1987 at the Aitkin Community Hospital. She was born June 1, 1907 in Stanley ND and had been a lifelong area resident. She and her husband owned an antique store in Crosby and they also owned the Pine Cone Inn in Outing.Note Charlotte's and Carl son, Gordon Francis Oberg was serving as a a Radarman 3rd Class in the USN, aboard the USS Hoel in WW II and was listed as Missing in Action (MIA) on 27 October 1944.For many years she wrote the ”chit chat” column for the Crosby Courier. She was a member of the Emily Wesleyan Church. She was a Gold Star mother and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1647 in Brainerd. She was active in the Cuyuna Range Historical Society [Crosby, Minnesota].
Services were held Sat. at 1:30 p.m. at the Emily Wesleyan Church with Rev. James Slye and Rev. Eunice Shirbourn officiating. Burial was in the Pine Ridge Cemetery, Emily.
She is survived by her husband, Carl A., one foster son, Basil LeBlanc Sr. of Little Pine Rt., Aitkin, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Gordon, and an infant daughter, 2 brothers and one sister."
