The children of Lucian and Emma Whipple.  Lucien (or Lucian) was the son of Henry and Cynthia (Harrison) Whipple.

The children of Lucien and Emma Whipple were:

13.6.3.1 William G. Whipple, was born in about 1859 in Minnesota.  He is listed in the Minnesota Death Index as William G. Whipple, date of death listed as 19 June 1947, in Ramsey County.

I did not locate William in the 1880 census, by 1900 he was married and was recorded in 6th Ward, St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, ED# 110, sheet 21A (William and Carrie both stated that they had been married for 17 years; Carrie also stated that she had given birth to 9 children, 7 of whom were still living; the street was recorded as Lucy Street, house number unreadable):

In the 1910 Federal Census of 6th Ward, St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, ED# 85, sheet 3A, their household listed (both William and Carrie stated that they had been married for 26 years; Carrie stated that she had given birth to 8 living children):

I didn't locate William in the 1920 census.  Carrie was enumerated living with her oldest son Lucian Howard Whipple in 1920 and gave her marital status as married in 1920.

In the 1930 Federal Census, William G. Whipple was enumerated in Centerville Township, Anoka County, Minnesota, ED# 10, sheet 1A.  He was age 71, gave his place of birth as Minnesota, his father's place of birth as Michigan and his mother's as Wisconsin.  He listed his occupation as a poultry farmer and his marital status as married.  The only other person listed in the 1930 household was a housekeeper, Hattie Russell, single, age 53, born in Iowa.  I could not find a match for Carrie in the Minnesota Death Index.

From census data, their known children were:

13.6.3.1.1 Lucian Howard Whipple, was born in March 1885 in Minnesota.  "L. Howard Whipple" is listed in the Minnesota Death Index, date of birth listed as 27 March 1885, date of death listed as 28 July 1955 in Ramsey County, mother's maiden name listed as Larsen.  His wife, Delima M. Whipple, is also listed in the
Minnesota Death Index, her date of birth is listed as 10 April 1889, date of death listed as 5 March 1971 in Ramsey County.

In the 1910 Federal Census he had been married for just 1 year.  He was enumerated in 6th Ward, St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, ED# 77, sheet 7B ("L.H." and Delima both stated that they had been married for 1 year and she stated that she had given birth to no children; street listed as South Wabasha, house numbers not recorded):

In the 1920 Federal Census, his mother and some of his siblings were listed in the household.  The 1920 Federal Census of 6th Ward, St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, ED# 63, sheet 20A, listed (Carrie stated that she immigrated to the U.S. in 1874 and was naturalized date unreadable, she listed her marital status as married; Henry Goyette--who according to Emily Goyette in 1910 was deceased--stated that he was a widower, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1870 and was naturalized after 1900, the year is also unreadable):

According to the Minnesota Death Certificate Index, Cassa Whipple died on 5 December 1915 in Le Suer County.  I was able to obtain a copy of his obituary from the Le Suer County Historical Society, copied from the Montgomery Messenger, dated 10 December 1915.  In the 1920 Federal Census, after Cassa's death, Rosa B. Whipple and her son, Vernon L., now age 11, were still living in Montgomery Township.  All of the girls were married or living outside of the home.  Rose did remarry in June of 1941 to Frank Stasney in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Rose died in May 1948, her obituary appeared in the Montgomery Messenger on 7 May 1948.  From census data and their obituaries, the children of Cassa B. Whipple and Rose B. Houska were:

The four daughters of Cassa and Rose Whipple in about 1900, from the left: standing is Ida, Lauretta is seated on the arm of the chair, Leona is sitting and Virginia is standing on the right.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Vernon and Virginia (Weber) Whipple

13.6.3.3 Lavina Leone Whipple, was born in September 1862 in Minnesota and according to the Minnesota Death Certificate Index died on 29 April 1949 in Wabasha County, Minnesota.  From her brother Cassa's obituary, Lavina married Oliver P. Francisco (his second marriage), he died on 4 February 1926 in Wabasha County, Minnesota.

In the 1900 Federal Census they were recorded in Florence Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota, ED# 39, sheet 4B (both "Lovina" and Francisco stated that they had been married for 17 years; Lovina stated that she had given birth to 2 living children; her aunt and uncle, William and Mary Whipple lived in the adjacent household):

In the 1910 Federal Census they were enumerated in Florence Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota, ED# 39, sheet 8A (both "Lovina" and Francisco stated that they had been married for 27 years, she stated that it was her first marriage, he stated that it was his second marriage; additionally Lovina stated that she had given birth to 2 living children):

In the 1920 Federal Census of Lake City, Wabasha County, Minnesota, ED# 149, sheet 9B, their household listed:

Their two known children were:

13.6.3.3.1 Cecile Francisco, was born in March 1886 in Minnesota.

13.6.3.3.2 Oliver P. Francisco, Jr., was born on 5 October 1888 in Minnesota and died on 15 June 1980 in Wabasha County, Minnesota.  Oliver was unmarried and living with his mother in the 1930 Federal Census at age 41.

13.6.3.4 Ulysses Grant Whipple, was born in September 1866 in Minnesota and died in 1933.  There is a burial record listed for Grant U. Whipple, born in 1868 and death in 1923 [sic, this is an error in the transcription, he did appear in the 1930 census, and died in 1932], lot 198, in Sunset Rest Cemetery, in Northwood, Iowa.  Ulysses Grant Whipple is mentioned in his brother's Cassa's obituary in 1915 as "Grant Whipple of Northwood, Iowa".

There is also a marriage record for Grant Whipple in Worth County, Iowa, dated 11 February 1897, to Leone Root [sic, should be Leona Root].  Her obituary gives her name as Leona Dell (Root) Whipple, born on November 28th 1875 in Meltonville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ransom Root (her father was living in her household in the 1910 census, see below) and died in 1958.  The 1880 Federal Census listed her father as R.H. Root, age 35 born in Ohio, and her mother as Laverne Root, age 30, also born in Ohio.  The Root family was recorded in Deer Creek, Worth County, Iowa in 1880.  In the 1900 Federal Census Ransom and Laverne Root were living in Northwood, Worth County, Iowa.  Ransom and Laverne both stated that they had been married for 32 years, Laverne stated that she had given birth to 6 children, 5 of whom were still living.  Ransom's occupation is difficult to make out--it appears that he was a professor of some sort.

In the 1900 Federal Census of Northwood Township, Worth County, Iowa, ED# 152, 4A (they both stated that they had been married for 3 years, Leona also stated that she had given birth to 2 living children) their household listed:

#75 80    Whipple, Ulysus G.    Head  Sept  1866  33   Minnesota    Michigan    Wisconsin  [unreadable]
Leona D.    Wife   Nov   1874  26   Iowa           Ohio          Ohio
                            Leslie R.    Son    Sept   1897   2   Iowa

In the 1910 Federal Census of Northwood Town, Worth County, Iowa, ED# 173, sheet 6A (Grant and Leona both stated that they had been married for 13 years; Leona stated that she had given birth to 3 living children):

#129 132    Whipple, Ulysses G.    Head    m    43    Minnesota    [unreadable]

                             Leaghlon A.    Son      m     8     Iowa           None
Root, Ransom H.    Father in law    m    67    wd    Ohio    None

In the 1920 Federal Census he is indexed as "W. Grant Whipple", however, it sure looks like U. Grant Whipple in my opinion.  The 1920 Federal Census of Northwood town, Worth County, Iowa, ED# 185, sheet 13B, listed:

#336  339  Whipple, U Grant  Head 53  Minnesota  Michigan  Michigan  Plasterer  Houses etc.

In the 1930 Federal Census they were living in Rockford, Floyd County, Iowa, ED# 14, sheet 4B:

In the 1920 Federal Census of Mason City, Cerro Gordo, County ED# 41, sheet 4A, Leslie and his brother Lloyd were boarders in the household of Mary Waits, they must have been enumerated twice, they also appeared in the household of their parents (see above).  Leslie was 22 and working as a salesman in the land office.  Lloyd was 19 and working as a laborer in a packing house.

Leslie married Nona Ruth Thompson on 18 October 1920 in Northwood Iowa.  She was born on 27 May 1896 in Belmond, Iowa and died on 1 February 1982 in Mason City, Iowa (obituary).  Leslie and Nona are both buried in Belmond, Iowa (markers).

In the 1930 Federal Census of Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, ED# 24, sheet 22B, their household listed (address was listed as 1033 Second St. N.W., Leslie stated that he was married at age 23):

13.6.3.4.2 Lloyd G. Whipple, was born on 8 March 1900 in Northwood, Worth County, Iowa.  He did marry and was later divorced.  He died on 9 December 1973 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and is buried in Northwood, Iowa (marker and funeral notice).

13.6.3.4.3 Leighton A. "Jack" Whipple, was born on 31 January 1902 in Northwood, Worth County, Iowa and died 13 July 1969 in Mason City, Iowa (obituary).  He is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City, Iowa.  Jack married Ruth T. Nelson on 29 May 1927 at Lake Mills, Iowa.  Ruth was born in 1906 and died in 1994 in Mason City, Iowa (marker).

In the 1930 Federal Census of Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa, ED# 21, sheet 10B, his household listed (Leighton stated that he was married at age 25, Ruth stated that she was age 20 at the time of her marriage, address was listed as 314 North Conn. Ave.):

The birth year listed in the cemetery transcription seems to match her sister below, I could not find matches for either of them in the Minnesota Death Certificate Index.
