Frederick Bethannah Harrison and Lucretia C. Lou Roe Listed below are the descendants of Frederick "Fred" Bethannah Harrison and his (2nd) wife Lucretia C. "Lou" Roe.  "Fred" was the tenth child of Joseph Harrison I and Bathsheba Oglesby.  "Lou" was the daughter of of Jonathan Roe I and Lucretia Van Valkenburg.

(15.10.2) Alexander "Lec" Harrison, born on 3 July 1853, in Wakeshma Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 1 March 1923, in Liberty Township, Merrill, Plymouth County, Iowa.  He was buried on 3 March 1923, in Lincoln Township Cemetery, Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa (no marker).  "Lec" married (1st) Cora Adalade Hance in 1874, in Kalamazoo County, Michigan.   Lec set off for the Harrisonville, Iowa settlement with his family in 1877, and remained in the area the rest of his life.  He traveled to some of the colonies but did not take up residency.  He moved around Plymouth and Woodbury County, Iowa frequently. Lec and Cora divorced, she took their youngest son, Cyril, with her to Ohio and he died in a horse and buggy accident. Lec and Cora had 4 children:

(15.10.2.1) George B. Harrison, born in 1877, in Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  George married Bessie Kaynor, she was born in 1891 (Bessie was the daughter of Frieda Amsler Kaynor (Lec's second wife) so we have mother and daughter marrying father and son).


(15.10.2.2) Ailie M. Harrison, born in May 1878, in Hinton, Iowa and died on 10 August 1879 in Hinton and is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Iowa.


(15.10.2.3) Celia Harrison, born January 1880, in Hinton, Iowa, died and is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Iowa.


(15.10.2.4) Cyril Harrison, born about 1882, in Hinton, Iowa, and died as a young man in Ohio in an accident.


(15.10.2.5) Lucretia Harrison, born 5 April 1885, Lincoln Township, Plymouth Co., Iowa

Lec married (2nd) Frieda Amsler Kaynor, on 29 December 1897, in Woodbury County, Iowa.  Frieda was a native of Switzerland who had been married and widowed.  Frieda was born 27 September 1873, in Switzerland, and died on 9 October 1964, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She is buried in Graceland Park Cemetery, in Sioux City Iowa.  She was the daughter of Henry Amsler and Susannah Ecke.  Her daughter, Bessie married Lec's son, George and another daughter, Hazel Kaynor married Ray Stinton.  Lec and Frieda moved to a farm on the west side of Plymouth County, he died in 1923, and she was widowed over 40 years, and served as a strong matriarch to this family.  They had 8 children:
(15.10.2.6) Eugene "Gene" Henry Harrison, born on 3 November 1898, in Perry Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and died on 17 January 1969, in LeMars, Iowa, burial in Memorial Gardens, Le Mars.  He married Amelia Henrietta "Amy" Petersen on 15 February 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She was born on 1 January 1903, in Merrill, Plymouth County, Iowa and died on 8 August 1996, in LeMars, Iowa, the daughter of Jens Petersen and Emilie Wettstedt.


(15.10.2.7) Frederick Cyrus "Cyrus" Harrison, born on 1 April 1901, in Hancock Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and died on 19 November 1979, in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  He married  June Laken.


(15.10.2.8) Mabel Lena Harrison, born on 14 January 1903, in Hungerford Township, Hinton, Iowa, and died on 15 November 1973, in Sioux City, Iowa, buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She married Louis Mook on 17 August 1922, in Plymouth County, Iowa.  He was born on 3 June 1901 and died on 24 December 1968, in Sioux City, Iowa.


(15.10.2.9) Lucille Florence Harrison, born 8 November 1907, in Hinton, Iowa, and died on 27 March 1918, in Salix, Iowa.  She is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery (no marker).


(15.10.2.10) Elsie Harrison, born in 1908, in Hinton, Iowa, she married Earl Lemke.


(15.10.2.11) Evert Ray Harrison, born on 26 May 1912 in Hinton, Iowa, and died on 22 Mar 1918, in Salix, Iowa.  He is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery (no marker).  Laverna Harrison, is buried in Graceland Park Cemetery, in Sioux City, Iowa.


(15.10.2.12) Laverna Harrison, born on 17 March 1914, in Sioux City, Iowa died on 8 September 1948, in Park Rapids, Minnesota, she is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She married James Snyder on 31 Dec 1934, in Sioux City, Iowa.


(15.10.2.13) Lawrence A. Harrison, born on 10 February 1916, in Salix, Iowa, and died on 7 December 1965.  He is buried in Memorial Gardens, in LeMars, Iowa.  He married Joyce Steinfadt on 26 March 1946, in Le Mars, Plymouth County, Iowa.  Note: (15.10.2.13) marks the last great grandchild born to Joseph Harrison I and Bathsheba Jane Oglesby, the first was (15.1.1.1) Frederick Harrison born in 1829.  That is a whopping 87 years within the same generation.


(15.10.3) Adeline Ann "Ada" Harrison was born on 1 June 1855, in Wakeshma Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 2 July 1912, in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa.  She was buried on 4 July 1912, in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Iowa.  Adeline married Adelbert Martin "Dell" Nash, on 21 November 1874, in Wakeshma Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.  He was born on 28 July 1852, in Eaton County, Michigan, and died on 17 September 1929, in Hinton, Iowa, and is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery.  Dell was the son of Corlous Joseph “Horace” and Susan S. (Cole) Nash.  Dell and Ada moved to the Harrisonville settlement following their marriage, and lived in Keg Harrison's cave until they homesteaded a farm in Lincoln Township neighborhood.  Dell was an extremely resourceful man, and he served as Justice of the Peace and married many of the relatives in Harrisonville.  He fit in well with the Harrison's and explored some of their settlements on hunting trips.  Ada and Dell were extremely close with their siblings Addie and Luther who also married.  Their children were (not a complete list):

(15.10.3.1) Eva Lucretia Nash, born February 1878, in Lincoln Township, Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa and died in 1933, in Hinton, Iowa.  She is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Iowa (no marker).  Eva married Frank Soule (15.9.1.4) on 7 September 1893.  Frank was born on 4 June 1870, in Kalamazoo County, Michigan and died on 26 September 1935, in Hinton, Iowa, he is also buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery (no marker).   The Soule's operated the Soule Saloon in Hinton, Iowa.


(15.10.3.2) Susie Catherine Nash, born in 1883, in Lincoln Township, Iowa and died as an infant, she is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery.


(15.10.3.3) Elsworth Nash, born on 4 January 1887, in Lincoln Township, Iowa and died on 13 April 1902, in Lincoln Township.  He is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery.


(15.10.3.4) Bessie Nash, born August 1893, in Hinton, Iowa.


(15.10.4) William Henry "Hank" Harrison was born on 14 September 1857, in Wakeshma Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 8 August 1937, in Pipestone County, near Woodstock, Minnesota.  He is buried in Woodstock Cemetery, in Pipestone County,  Minnesota.  He married Frances E. Sweet, on 23 October 1880, in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa.  She is also buried in Woodstock Cemetery. Hank Harrison moved to the Harrisonville settlement in 1874. Hank spent much time with his uncle Alex's sons as they lodged many of the families that moved to Iowa.  He did a lot of traveling with his father, brothers, uncles and cousins into the Dakotas.  Hank was of the first settlers in Cass County, Minnesota.  Hank built many of the crude log cabins for the relatives who removed to the Backus and Walker areas.  He also was an early explorer into the Saskatchewan area.  Hank and his wife, Frances were extremely close to Frances' sister, Lois Jane and her husband, (15.8.7.2) Benjamin Van De Bogart.  These families also were very connected to the Roe families, Selbee's, and Sam Harrison's families who were early settlers of Backus.  Some of Joseph II's descendants met up and worked in the logging industry, (the family stated some of Bazel's grandsons stayed with them ca 1899, no names given).  Hank later settled in the Slayton, Minnesota area.  He loved to tell the family history and told his grandchildren outlaw tales, the kids laughed it off, but were told by their parents to respect grandpa because the tales may have seemed colorful, but were true.  Hank lost a few toes in the cold, and was treated by his mother, "Lou."  He took great care of his mother, and he was one of the 4 sons and 4 grandsons who dug her grave at the Lincoln Township Cemetery.  Their children (not including infants) were:

(15.10.4.1) Roy Charles Harrison   was born in 1895, in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and died in 1956.  Roy is buried in Pasco, Washington.  He married Carolyn Ruth Knapp (daughter of Jess Knapp and Lida Mae Soule), Lida was the daughter of (15.9.8) Galen Herbert Soule and (15.1.10.4) Sarah Ramona Sager.  Roy was a WW I vet, and his family was one of the first families to settle near the Backus, Minnesota settlement.  Roy and Carolyn had 5 children: Mae Frances Harrison Doric (1923-1988); Henry "Hank" Harrison (1925); Jess Everett Harrison (1927-1965); LaVina Harrison Erb (1928-2001); and James Dale Harrison (1930).


(15.10.4.2) Lavina Frances Harrison, born on 25 July 1901, in Backus, Cass County, Minnesota, and died December 1975, in Racine, Wisconsin.  She married Arthur Tobias.


(15.10.5) Mary Jane Harrison was born in 1860, in Wakeshma Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died in about 1895, in Lincoln Township, Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa.  She is buried in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Neptune, Stanton Township, Iowa.  She married George Bailey on 24 December 1877, in Lincoln Township, Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa. He was born in 1843 in Ireland and died 1930, he is also buried St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Neptune, Iowa.  Mary Jane Harrison accompanied her parents to Harrisonville settlement late in the fall of 1874.  She lived married George Bailey born in 1843 and died about 1927, George was a well to do Irish immigrant who farmed in Lincoln Township.  George and Mary Jane were of the first wave to explore the Hill City, South Dakota settlement.  They returned to Harrisonville. Mary Jane and several of their children died in an epidemic and they were all buried at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, a few miles from the Harrisonville settlement.  The exact date is not known, there are no existing death records in Plymouth County for that period or in a St. Joseph Catholic Church record book that spans the period from 1885-1888.  George and surviving children remained in Plymouth County.  Eventually, Cyrus and Tom moved to the Backus, Minnesota settlement and explored Saskatchewan, before returning to Iowa. Though, Mary Jane died, George and family remained very active in the Harrison family.  Their son, Tom, moved to Tyler, Minnesota, and his family and his brother Cyrus's family moved to Los Angeles, California in 1925.  Their children were:

(15.10.5.1) Mary Ann Bailey, born in 1879, in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa and died in about 1885-1898, in Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa, she is buried in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Neptune, Iowa.


(15.10.5.2) Frederick Harrison Bailey, born in about 1881 in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa and died in about 1885-1898, in Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa, she is buried in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Neptune, Iowa.


(15.10.5.3) Agatha Bailey, born in about 1882 in in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa and died in about 1885-1898, in Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa, she is buried in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Neptune, Iowa.


(15.10.5.4) Thomas John Bailey was born on 21 May 1886, in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and died on 5 September 1965, in Long Beach, Long Beach County, California.  He was buried 9 September 1965, in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Glendale, California.  He married Olive May Peron on 4 March 1908, in Le Mars, America Township, Plymouth County, Iowa.  Olive was born on 14 August 1888, in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and died in November 1984, in Daly City, California, and is also buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden. Olive was the daughter of William Martin Peron and Mary Jane Franklin.  Tom was raised in the Harrisonville settlement, and after the death of his mother spent a lot of time with his Grandmother Harrison.  Tom and brother, Cy, accompanied their grandmother, Lucretia to Backus, Minnesota in 1900, and worked as hired hands on their uncle, Hank Harrison's farm, and also cousins Sam Harrison, Jule Smith, and Ben Van DeBogarts' farms.  They returned to Hinton several years later.  Tom married Olive Peron (His uncle, Jerry and Olive's oldest sister, Ida were married).  They missed the only train home after the wedding.  A kindly train crew of the Great Western Railroad let the wedding party use the caboose of a freight train as their private car back to their home near Hinton.  In 1917, Tom and family moved to Tyler, Minnesota, and a few years later they moved back to Hinton.  In 1925, the family moved to Pasadena, California (where Olive's parents had property), and in 1936, they moved to Long Beach, California.  They spent their remaining years in California visiting Iowa yearly. They had 4 children; George Peron Bailey, Frederick John (infant), Olive Lucille (Peron) Dewar, and Elaine A. (Bailey) Self.


(15.10.5.5) Cyrus "Cy" Bailey, born on 8 August 1886, in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and died in November 1980, Whittier, Los Angeles County, California.  He married Grace Alice Dunne, she was born on 30 July 1886 and died in 1964.


(15.10.5.6) Lucille "Lucy" Bailey was born on 5 February 1891, in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, and died in 1905, in Hinton, Iowa.  She is buried in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Neptune, Plymouth County, Iowa.


(15.10.6) Jeremiah "Jerry" Harrison was born on 11 October 1865, in Wakeshma Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 21 February 1953, in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa.  He was buried on 26 February 1953, in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa.  She died 20 Apr 1950, Sioux City, Iowa, and buried Lincoln Township Cemetery.  He married Ida Maria Peron, on 28 March 1893, in the William Peron home, in James, Plymouth County, Iowa.  Ida was born on 10 November 1865, in Manchester, Cedar County, Iowa, the second child of William Martin Peron and Mary Jane Franklin.  She died on 20 April 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa, and is also buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery.  Their children were:

(15.10.6.1) Earl Francis Harrison was born on 15 December 1893, in Lincoln Township, Hinton, Iowa, died on 12 September 1971, in Lawton, Iowa.  He is buried in Banner Township Cemetery, in Lawton, Iowa.  He married Byrd Eliza "Lize" Edwards on 16 September 1914, in LeMars, Iowa.   "Lize" (pronounced LY- Zee) was born on 2 August 1894, in Woodbury County, Iowa, and died on 9 August 1994, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She is is also buried Banner Township Cemetery.  "Lize" was the daughter of Phillip Freeman Edwards and Tabitha Jane Brunson  They had 3 children: Clair Francis Harrison, Phyllis Jane Harrison Sheets and Darrell Eugene Harrison.


(15.10.6.2) Archie Alexander Harrison, born on 12 October 1895, in Hinton, Iowa, and died on 3 January 1968, in Leeds, Iowa.  He is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery.


(15.10.6.3) Ethel Mary Harrison, born on 18 October 1897, in Hinton, Iowa, and died on  27 September 1987, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Sioux City, Iowa.  Ethel married Oscar Levi Coyle on 23 June 1923, in LeMars, Iowa.  Oscar was born in 1902 and died in 1964.  Their children were: Irene Coyle Hansel, Ida May Coyle Maron, Lorna Maxine Coyle Lane, Jack LeRoy Coyle, Dolly Coyle Sherrill, Joyce Coyle Oiler, and Beverly Coyle Burright.


(15.10.6.4) Emma Lucille Harrison, born 18 September 1899, in Hinton, Iowa, and died on 14 December 1983, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Emma married William Freeman Edwards on 2 December 1919, in Sioux City, Iowa.  William was born in 1888 and died in 1970.  He was the son of Phillip and Tabitha Brunson Edwards.  Their children were: Agnes Lucille Edwards Hoffman, Neva Fern Edwards Kennedy and Jeremiah "Jerry" Edwards.


(15.10.6.5) Lola Fern Harrison, born on 10 July 1903, in Hinton, Iowa, and died about 1993, in Belle Fouche, South Dakota.  Lola  married John Robert Thompson.  Their children were: Mary Rosella Thompson Besler, Fern Delores Thompson Olson, Marvin Thompson and Robert John Thompson.


(15.10.6.6) William Frederick Harrison, born 10 September 1905, in Hinton, Iowa, and died in California.  He married Mary Steffney.


(15.10.7) Adelaide Florence "Addie" Harrison, born on 5 November 1867, in Climax Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 4 December 1941, in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa. She is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa.  She married Luther Eland Nash, on 12 October 1882, in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa.  Luther was the son of Corlous Joseph Nash and Susan S. Cole.  He was born on 22 June 1863, Kalamazoo County, Michigan and died on 18 May 1939, in Sioux City, Iowa.  He is also buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery.  Their children were (not a complete list):

(15.10.7.1) Vivian Eland Nash, born on 29 November 1883, in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa and died on 20 April 1966, in Sioux City, Iowa burial in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Iowa.  He married  Ellen Adorthea Waddington on 30 November 1900, in Sioux City, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Elijah Wallace Waddington and Sarah Jane Crouch.  Ellen was born on 7 May 1878, in Nashua, Iowa and died on 2 March 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa, she is also buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery.


(15.10.7.2) Elsie Mae Nash, born on 13 December 1886, in Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa and died on 13 January 1887, in Hinton, Iowa, she is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery, Plymouth County, Iowa.


(15.10.7.3) Lucretia Lulu Nash, born on 15 December 1888, in Hinton, Plymouth County, Iowa and died on 20 December 1888, in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Iowa, she is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery, Hinton, Iowa.


(15.10.7.4) Milnor J. "Mid" Nash, born on 11 May 1894, in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa and died on 11 March 1935, in Sioux City, Iowa.  He is buried in Graceland Park Cemetery, in Sioux City, Iowa. He married  Agnes Dolly “Dolly” Strader on 17 August 1919, in Pender, Nebraska.  She was born on 6 June 1896, and died on 13 March 1981, in Pleasant Hills, California, she is also buried in Graceland Park Cemetery.


(15.10.7.5) Essie Elma Nash, born on 4 August 1900, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa and died on 4 August 1900, in Hinton, Iowa, she is buried Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Hinton, Iowa.


(15.10.8) Cyrus Michael "Cy" Harrison, born on 25 December 1871, in Wakeshma Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, and died on 25 March 1944, in Backus, Cass County, Minnesota.  He is buried in Backus Cemetery, Backus, Cass County, Minnesota.  Cy married Clara Heinrich on 23 November 1898, in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, they were later divorced.  Their children were:

(15.10.8.1) Viola Harrison, born on 2 February 1901, in Hinton, Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and died on 7 July 1998, in Dell Rapids, South Dakota.  She married Roy Somers on 23 October 1920.


(15.10.8.2) Celia Harrison, born in March 1904, and died in March 1904, in Hinton, Iowa, and is buried in Lincoln Township Cemetery, Hinton, Iowa (died at 2 weeks old of whopping cough).
