Butler County, Ohio
Bazel and his brother Shadrack Harrison were last taxed in Washington County, Pennsylvania in 1808/1809.  Butler County, Ohio tax records indicate that Bazel was in Butler County, Ohio as early as 1812.  He was last taxed in 1819, when the family relocated to nearby Clark County.  Shadrack sold land in 1816 in Butler County, Sahdrack was then taxed in Champaign County from 1817-1819.

The following land records and newspaper articles were found at the Ohio Genealogical Society, in Mansfield, Ohio, the Western Michigan University Regional Archives in Kalamazoo, Michigan and the Allen County Library in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

     The following are abstracts from the newspaper "Western Spy" which appear in the "Pioneer Ohio Newspapers, 1802-1818, Genealogical and historical Abstracts", by Karen Mauer Green, published by the Frontier Press, 1988:
Volume II, 4 January 1812, No. 69;

"John Ayers reports that John Merrit and Bazel Harrison have appraised a horse found by Arthur Legg, in Liberty township, Butler County."

Volume IV, Saturday, 23 October 1813, No. 164;

"John Ayres reports that Bazel Harrison and Nicholas Curtice have appraised a mare found by Adam Fulliton, of Liberty township, Butler County."

The above newspaper articles also demonstrate that Bazel Harrison had some legal experience, several years prior to being appointed an Associate Judge in Kalamazoo County, Michigan.

The early Butler County tax records on microfilm at the Allen County Library, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana begin in 1816 (I found no earlier records that were filmed).  Bazel and Shadrack were both taxed in 1816.  Shadrack was not taxed after 1816.  Bazel was taxed through 1819.  The image below is from the 1816 Tax List of Liberty Township, Butler County, Ohio:
