Family Reunion Poem
By: Opal (SCOTT) HAMMETT

For twenty-three years they were scattered...
From the east coast, clear out to the west.
And each was too busy to visit...
Each trying to do his best.
But finally, they all got together...
From East, West and South, they all came.
There were Lena and Walter and Ellis...
There was Will, and a brother named Jack.
And the youngest of all, who was Elbert...
Each one was so glad to be back.
They met and were tearfully joyous...
At seeing each other at last.
They talked and they laughed and were happy...
Re-living the days of the past..
Then they vowed they would meet much more often...
They would not let the miles intervene.
And each carried home in his memory...
Thoughts of love from that reunion scene.
