"Jury list named for forthcoming Circuit Court. Court to begin the last Monday in March 1907." [3/25/1907]

"Calhoun Monitor" dated 5/19/1907 (Thursday-Front page)

"A petition to Gov. VARDAMAN, asking for a pardon for Miss Nona SCOTT, who was convicted for killing her father is being circulated."

"Calhoun Monitor" dated 6/27/1907 (Thursday)

"The young lady, Miss Nona SCOTT, who has been confined in the County jail since the spring term of our Circuit court in which she was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, has been set at liberty, through the executive clemency of the governor VARDAMAN.

It was shown to the governor that the young lady's mother is now an invalid and in a helpless condition and that in all probability her life was numbered to weeks and that a duty to humanity demanded that the girl be liberated so that she could minister to the wants and necessities of the mother and several smaller children.

The governor acted promptly and in his usual manner in ordering the girl's release."

"Dixie Herlad" dated July 1907

"Nona Scott, who has been in the jail here since Circuit Court under a sentence of 12 months for the killing of her father, was pardoned by the governor last week."
