OLIVE BLANCHE SIEPEL (nee RINEHART)
1879-1928

MRS. W. E. SIEPEL

Olive Blanche, daughter of John and Maria Rinehart, was born February 10, 1879 and on April 16, 1928 near midday the ties of life which held her with us, were severed only to be united beyond the valley.

A year ago she was ill and did not fully recover.  In December she had high blood pressure, with its accompanying ailments, and went to the hospital for eight weeks; since then she has not been strong and a week ago she had a stroke of paralysis.

She attended school at the Old Normal in Macomb where she finished her course in '98, attended Hedding college and later taught school; she graduated from the Wesley and DeLee hospitals in Chicago in 1906 and followed nursing till her marriage.  She loved her home and felt that there was her calling.

On February 23, 1910 she was married to Willard E. Siepel.  Three children were born to them; the oldest and youngest have been waiting on the other shore to welcome the mother; John Willard is left to be a comfort and companion to the father.  There are left also two brothers, Bruce and Lyman H. and one sister, Mrs. Ella M. Badger.  One brother, Andrew Scott, died in 1874 at one year of age.  There are five nieces and seven nephews.

When she was twelve years old she heard her Master calling and has been walking with him through the years.  In the Sunday school she has been a scholar, teacher and superintendent; She has served her church as a lay delegate to the annual conference and was an officer in the Aid and Woman's Foreign Missionary societies for the current year.

She had always a fine appreciation for any favor and was especially grateful for every call or letter or good wish that came to her during her sickness.  A kind friend, an ideal sister, a loving wife and a good mother has crossed the narrow vale to the Beyond.

Rev. L. P. Bear of Sheldon assisted by Rev. Seble had charge of the funeral services which were held at Hills Grove on Wednesday afternoon.  Rev. Bear spoke comforting word from the text, "Who will render to every man according to his deeds."  Mrs. Penolia Goodridge presided at the organ.  The pall bearers were Ray Cox, Manville Barb, Will Morgan, Jack Schaufele, Clay Clark and Geo. Rundle.  The many floral offerings and the unusually large attendance was a mute testimony of the high esteem in which she was held.

Those from a distance who attended were Rev. and Mrs. L. P. Bear Sheldon, Ill,, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Siepel, West Liberty, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Siepel and son, William of Glasford, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Ira Siepel of Mapleton, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Dunham of Camp Point, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Dunham of Clayton, Mr. and Mrs. Finis Nichols of Peoria, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Flint of Macomb, Dr. and Mrs. A.
