November 23, 1977 as transcribed by Cora R. Swift Funeral services for James A. Day, 34, of R.R. 1, Colchester, who burned to death in his mobile home in Joetta early Monday morning, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday in the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Colchester. The Rev. James Rueburg will officiate. Burial will be in Majorville Cemetery, near Fountain Green. Friends may call at the chapel anytime until the hour of services. A memorial has been established for the Hillsgrove United Methodist Church. Fire complete destroyed the mobile home occupied by Day at Joetta. The fire was discovered by his father and the Fountain Green Fire Department was summoned. The cause of the fatal fire has not been determined, but the furnace in the mobile home had reportedly been malfunctioning recently. An autopsy has been performed by Dr. Richard Kertz, Hancock county coroner, who will also conduct an inquest, into the death at a later date. Mr. Day was born Aug. 14, 1943 at Macomb, the son of Arlin F. and Mary O. Mort Day. He was a lifelong resident of Hancock county and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Day was employed as a laborer. Surviving are the parents of R.R. 1 Colchester, two children, Roger Lee and Nicole, both of LaHarpe, and one brother, Lewis Day, also of R.R. 1, Colchester. |
