Alfred, also known as "Uncle John", was born January 16, 1875 (or perhaps 1876), to James William Kimbrough and Nancy Adeline Russell, who came from Kentucky to Hancock County in 1866.  Alfred died after September 1947.

Lizzie and Alfred lived in Hancock Township for a number of years after their marriage.  By 1920 they had relocated to Nelson Park Township, Marshall County, Minnesota.  They spent the rest of their lives in that state.
