James J. McBee, age 71, of St. Augustine, FL., passed away on Sunday night in a local hospital after a short illness. The deceased was born in Charlton County, GA., and came to St. Augustine to reside 28 years ago, moving here from Nahunta, Georgia. The remains, accompanied by relatives, will be sent to Hickox, GA. tomorrow morning where funeral services and burial will be held. The Garcia Funeral Home is in charge fo local arrangements.
The deceased is survived by h is wife, Mrs. Callie McBee, and a large family of relatives.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Vina Johnson, Mrs. Gladys Roth and Mrs. Ruby O'Neal, of this city; Mrs Viola Scholl, of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Lois Averill and Mrs. Thelma Parsons of Tampa. Eight sons survive; Jeff and Jesse McBee of this city, Fred McBee, serving with the U.S. Army in Germany; James McBee of Tampa;Arthur McBee of Jacksonville, Roy McBee serving with the Marines in the South Pacific and Harry McBee serving with the Navy in the Pacific. The desceased is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Hettie McGhee of Kissimmee, Mrs. Julia Morgan of Hickox, GA, Mrs. Mary Rogers of Waycross, GA., and Mrs. Rena Wainwright residing in Georgia. Twenty-one grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Callie Todd McBee 79, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away in Virginia Beach Tuesday morning, Sept. 15, following an extending illness.
A native of Florence, SC, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Loretta Hardee Todd. With her family, she moved to the Hickox community as a young girl and resided there until her marriage. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the widow of the late J.J. McBee.
For many years she resided in St. Augustine, Fla. and for the past several months had made her home in Virgina Beach, Va.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Edward Roth and Mrs. Richard Parsons, both of Virginia Beach. Mrs. J. J. Scholl and Mrs. S.A. O'Neal, both of Jacksonville, Fl., and Mrs. W.W. Averill of Tampa, Fla. six sons, Arthur D. McBee of St. Augustine, Fla., Edward Roy McBee of Virginia Beach, Va. Harry R. McBee and Albert L. McBee both of New London, Conn. Jeff M. McBee of Schenectady, NY and Jesse J. McBee of Waycross, GA. Three sisters, Mrs. Mary Highsmith of Brunswick, Mrs. D. W. O'Neal and Mrs. Oliver Lewis, both of Waycross; one brother, Buren Todd of Waycross. 37 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, September 18, at two o'clock from the Raybon Advent Christian church with the Rev. Howard Grimes, assisted by the Rev. Baxter W. James officiating. Interment will follow in the Rob Lewis cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Messrs. Ellis Highsmith, Arnold Todd, Sam Chesser, Owen Griffin, Dennis Baisle and Frank Foreman. The family has the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement. The Chambless Funeral Home of Nahuna is in charge of arrangements.

Harry Richard McBee, 52, of New London, Connecticut died at 1:50 a.m. today at Lawrence Memorial Hospital whre he was admitted Wednesday. He was a driver in the City of New London's highway department. He last worked Wednesday. Mr. McBee was a member of St. Mary's Church, Municipal Employees Association and the F.L. Allen Hook & Ladder Fire Company. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Air Force Reserve from 1955-1958.
He married the former Georgette Lagasse on Feb. 11, 1946, in St. Augustine, FL.
Born Sept. 3, 1925 in St. Augustine, FL, he was the son of James J. and Caroline Todd McBee. He had lived in this area since 1959.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Harry R. McBee Jr., of Springfield, Mass., two daughters, Linda A. Mans of Charleston, S.C., and Gail M. McBee, at home; four brothers, Morris of Schenectady, N.Y., Jessie and Arthur, both of St. Augustine and Albert McBee of New London; five sisters, Gladys Roth of St. Augustine, Lois Avery of Tampa, Fl., Viola Scholl and Ruby O'Neill, both of Jacksonville, FL., and Thelma Parsons of Virginia Beach, VA., and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday from the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home to a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors. There are no calling hours.
