Ica Berdina CLARK MILES was born July 17, 1904 in Troupsburg, NY-- Steuben County the daughter of Frank A. CLARK and Ettie A. COFFIN CLARK.  She died December 1, 1945  in Hornell, NY -- Steuben County.  On November 2, 1922 she married Jesse James MILES.  the son of Daniel and Patience BACON CARD MILES   He was born September 1, 1901 in Westfield, PA -- Tioga County and died November 21, 1974 in Corning, NY -- Steuben County.


OBITUARY--JESSE J. MILES
WOODHULL--Jesse J. Miles, 73, of Hornell RD 1, died at Corning Hospital today after a long illness. He was a native of Westfield PA. and had been a farmer in Troupsburg and a machinist at Corning Glass Works.
He is survived by seven sons, Eldon of North Fork, PA., Duane of Clinton, NC, Donald, Gale, and Elwood all of Hornell RD 1, Jesse H. of Addison and Phillip Webb of Hornell, RD 1. Two daughters, Mrs. Doris Bliss of Painted Post and Mrs. Betty Smith of Almond. several step-children; one brother William of Bath, 43 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the H.P. Smith and Son Funeral Home in Woodhull Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m.
Burial wil be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg. (paper of Nov. 21, 1974)

Eldon Edwin MILES born November 13, 1923 in Troupsburg, NY--Steuben County and died January 17, 1996.  He married Onnolee Velma KELLEY on December 26, 1941.  She was born November 1, 1914 and died January 21, 1993.

OBITUARY-- ELDON E. MILES
NORTHFORK Pa. -- Eldon E. Miles, 72, of Northfork, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 1996) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Troupaburg, N.Y., and was a son of Jesse J. and Ica Derdenia Clark Miles. On Dec. 29, 1941 he married Onolee V. Kelley, who died Jan. 21, 1993.
He was also predeceased by two brothers, Donald Miles in December 1974, and Jesse Miles Jr. in November 1993.
Eldon had served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Westfield, Pa. Masonic Lodge #477 F. & A.M. and the Northfork Grange. He was formerly employed at A.L. Blades in Hornell and Bakers Construction of Alfred. He retired from the State of Pennsylvania as a foreman in road construction in Potter County.
He is survived by four brothers, Arnold Duane (Ida Ray) Miles of Clinton, N.C., Gale (Louise) Miles of Canisteo, N.Y., Elwood "Pete" (Beverly) Miles and Philip Webb, both of Hartsville, N.Y.; two sisters, Doris (George) Bliss of Addison, N.Y. and Betty Smith of Almond, N.Y.; a dear friend, Loretta Alexander of Northfork; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo, where there will be a Masonic Memorial Service at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and a funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. John Karle officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg.

Donald Eldred MILES was born July 15, 1927 in Brookfield, PA -- Tioga County and died December 3, 1974 in Hornell, NY -- Steuben County.  He married Marian Beatrice CAPLE on November 20, 1948.

OBITUARY DONALD E MILES
Donald E, Miles, 47, of Hornell RD 1 was dead on arrival early this morning at St. James Mercy Hospital where he was taken by Canisteo ambulance.
A native of Brookfield, Pa., he had lived in the Troupsburg area and for the past 26 years resided in Hartsville. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Corporal Joseph J. Mooney Post No. 2250, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a foreman for Asplundh Tree Experts where he was employed 25 years.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Marian Caple Miles; three sons, Darwin of Hornell RD 1, Specialist 4c Larry D. with the U.S. Army in Germany, Darrel at home; five daughters, Mrs. Terry Mann of Hornell·RD 1, Mrs. Linda Hoskins of Hornell, Lois, Laura and Marlene at home; six brothers, Eldon of North Fork, Pa., A. Duane of Clinton, N.C., Gale and Elwood of Hornell RD 1, Jesse of Addison and Philip Webb of Hornell· RD 1; two sisters, Mrs. George Bliss of Painted Post RD, Mrs. William Smith of Almond, and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the H.P. Smith and Son Funeral Home, Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. David Truscott will officiate. Burial will be in Hartsville Center Cemetery. ADDISON--George A. Bliss, Sr., age 67, of 1620 Addison Back Road, Addison, NY entered into rest Sunday, March 2, 1997 at the home of his son, George A. Bliss, Jr. of Bath, N.Y.
Born in North Fork, PA, March 12, 1929, he was the son of Glenn & Edith Cady Bliss.
He had been employed for 38 years at the former Ingersoll Rand Foundry, then for five additional years he was employed at Dresser Rand Co., from which retired. He was a member of Corning Lodge, Loyal Order of Moose.
He married Doris I. Miles, September 13, 1947, she survives. Also surviving are two sons, George A Bliss, Jr. of Bath, N.Y. and Scott E. Bliss of Addison, N.Y.; two daughters, Georgia A. Chartrand of San Angelo, Texas and Awilda Burkes of Meridian, Miss.; three brothers, Lee Bliss of Millsbror, Delaware, Forrest Bliss of Painted Post, and Russell Bliss of Tioga, PA; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two aunts and several neices, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Mahlon Bliss and sisters, Rebecca Mattison & Arbutus LaRue.

Gale Elsworth MILES was born October 5, 1929  and died April 7, 2007.  He married first Ruth JEFFERS.  Secondly he married Louise YANNI who was born June 23, 1924 and died October 8, 1996.


JASPER/CANISTEO - Gale E. Miles Sr., 76, of State Route 417, Jasper, formerly of Canisteo, entered into rest Friday (April 7, 2006) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., following an extended illness.
Gale was born October 5, 1929, in Troupsburg to Jesse and Berdenia Clark Miles. On March 27, 1999, he married Lorraine Paddock who survives. He was predeceased by his wife, Lousie Yannie Miles, in October 1996. He also was predeceased by three brothers, Donald Miles, Jesse Miles Jr. and Eldon Miles; and one sister, Betty Smith.
Gale lived the majority of his life in Canisteo and was a truck driver for A.L. Blades and Sons of Hornell for 36 years. After retirement and remarrying, he moved to the Jasper community where he had lived since 1999 and continued to drive part time as a delivery truck driver for Canisteo Auto Mart. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and also enjoyed bowling in the Hornell leagues. Gale also volunteered his time delivering area Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his wife, Lorraine Paddock-Miles, of Jasper, he is survived by a son, Gale (Peggy) Miles, of Canisteo; step-children, Michael (Alice) Yanni of Hornell, George (Betty) Matacale of North Carolina, Robert (Rose) Matacale of Alfred Station, John (Dorothy) Manacle of Ohio, Kathy (Gene) Smith of Greenwood, Kim (Bill) Heckman of Woodhull and Robert (Julie) Paddock of Syracuse; children, Terry (Carol) Miles, Edwin (Jeannette) Miles, Gary (Becky) Miles and Darlene (David) Brace, all of Hornell; three brothers, Arnold (Ida Ray) Miles, of North Carolina, Elwood “Pete” (Beverly) Miles and Phillip (Sue) Webb, all of Hornell; one sister, Doris Bliss, of Addison; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. Monday and noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will take place at the conclusion of calling Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.

CANISTEO - Louise Miles, 72 of #1929 Purdy Creek Road of the town of Harstville died October 8, 1996 at her home. Mrs. Miles was born June 23, 1924 in Hornell to Gregory and Nicalina Quetti Yanni. She was married at Mills, Penn. to Gale Miles who survives. She was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Louis and Fred Yanni.
In addition to her husband she is survived by five sons; George (Betty) Matacale of Greenwood, Robert (Rose Ann) Matacale of Alfred Station, John (Dorothy) Matacale of Wooster, Ohio, Michael (Alice) Yanni of Hornell and
Gale (Peggy) Miles Jr. of Canisteo; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
The family received friends Thursday at the H. P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo where funeral and committal services were held Friday, with the Rev. Daniel Heintz officiating and burial was in the
Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.

Morris Milton MILES was born February 5, 1931 in Troupsburg, NY -- Steuben County and died February 15, 1931.

Morris, the ten days old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Miles, died Monday morning of bronchitis and flu. Prayer was held at the home Wednesday and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. (paper of Feb. 1931)

Betty Gertrude MILES was born March 20, 1932 in Whitesville, NY--Allegany County and died February 24, 2003.  She married William E. SMITH on July 2, 1947.  He was born January 5, 1924 and died August 19, 1994.

ALMOND -- Betty G. Smith, 70, of McHenry Valley Road, entered into rest Monday (Feb. 24, 2003) at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.
Betty was born March 20, 1932 in Whitesville to Jessie and Ica B. (Clark) Miles.
She was predeceased by her parents; one son, Neil Smith in 1996; a grandson, Thomas E. Smith Jr.; granddaughter, Rhonda Lynn Smith; and three brothers, Eldon, Donald and Jesse Miles.
Betty worked in the food service department at Alfred University as a baker for many years.
She is survived by nine sons, Marcus (Becki) Smith of Kansas, Floyd (Anita) Smith of Waco, Texas, Thomas Smith of Almond, William Smith of Corning, Stephen (Irene) Smith of Cohocton, Ernest (Kristina) Smith of LaFayette, Ind., Ray (Kathy) Smith of Albion, Ira Smith of Hornell and Patrick Smith of Wellsville; five daughters, Betty (Glen) Mills of Alexander, Kan., Berdenia (Walter) Qualls of Sparta,
Tenn., Tina (Richard) Mattison of Bath, Teresa Smith of Bath and Denira (Timothy) Soper of Mt. Morris; one sister, Doris Bliss of Addison; four brothers, Arnold Miles of Clinton, S.C., Gale Miles of Jasper, Pete Miles and Phillip Webb, both of Hartsville; 24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and close and dear friend, Linda Cornell of Almond.

OBITUARY--WILLIAM E. SMITH
CANISTEO--William E. Smith, 70, of 3137 County Route 109, Town of Howard, died Friday (Aug. 19, 1994) at his home.
Born Jan. 5, 1924, in Elmira, he was a son of William E. and Minnie Maud Bayless Smith. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Francelio Moore, and two grandchildren, Thomas Smith in 1976, and Rhonda Smithin 1986.
He retired from S.C. Hanson in 1986 and was later a truck driver for Fred Johnson & Son in Hornell.
Survivors include his children, Mark (Becky) of Kansas, Floyd (Anita) of Texas, Thomas (Helen) of Almond, William of New York, Betty (Glen) Mills of Kansas, Stephen (Irene C.) of Cohocton, Berdina (Walter) Qualls of Tennessee, Ernest (Scarlett) of Indiana, Tina Smith of Bath, Ray (Irene R.) of Albion, Ira of Bath, Patrick (Shona) of Wellsville, Neil of Indiana, Teresa Smith of Hornell,and Denira (Timothy) Soper of Mt. Morris; four sisters, Mildred Boydan, Minnie Skinner, Marguerite Wallace and Wilma Gross; 21 grandchildren; and on great-granchild.
There will be no prior calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Born in Troupsburg, NY, December 23, 1935, he was the son of Jesse J. & Ica Clark Miles. He attended Canisteo and Addison Central Schools. He married Edna M. Eymer, September 15, 1956 in Bishopville, NY. He was a former crane operator at Ingersoll Rand Co., Painted Post, NY and a mote paver operator for A.L. Blades & Sons of Hornell, NY.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Edna M. Miles. Also surviving are three daughters; Yvonne Morgan of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Renee Stebing of Daleville, Alabama, and Dawn Warner of Dansville, NY; two sons, Richard J. Miles of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Robert L. Miles of Walton, NY; two sisters, Doris Bliss of Addison, NY and Batty Smith of Almond, NY; five brothers, Eldon Miles of Westfield, PA, Duane Miles of Clinton, NC, Gale Miles of Canisteo, NY, Elwood (Pete) Miles and Phillip Webb, both of Canisteo, NY; his foster mother,
Adabelle Webb of Canisteo, NY; 14 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A brother, Donald Miles died previously.

EDNA M. MILES OBITUARY
ADDISON -- Edna M. Miles, 64, of 9 High St., Addison, passed away Thursday (Oct. 31, 2002) at St. James Mercy Hospital, Hornell. Born in North Hornell on Sept. 8, 1938, she was the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Henshaw Eymer. 
She was a former employee of Ann Page Foods of Horseheads, and retired as a bus driver for Addison Central School.   She married Jesse H. Miles on Sept. 18, 1956; he preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1993. 
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law Yvonne (Charles Howser) Morgan of Horseheads, Renee and Richard Stebing of Oakridge, Tenn., and Dawn and Rodney Warner of Hornell; two sons and daughters-in-law Richard J. and Doris Miles of Cleveland, Okla., and Robert L and Donna Miles of Jones, Mich.; a foster son, Gary VanSkiver of Addison; her mother, Elizabeth Eymer of Arkport; 17 
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Albert Eymer of Arkport, Kenneth Eymer of Hornell and David Eymer of North Carolina; three sisters, Phyllis McGregor and Mary Ritenburg, both of Hornell, and Betty Sprague of Arkport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
