Gerardo Marchese and Arcangela Ruoti were married in Potenza, Italy in 1894.  Their first child, Gaetano, was born in April 1894 but died at 12 days old.  Their second son, Rocco, was born in July 1896.  Gerardo left his home in Potenza, Italy in May 1896 and immigrated to the United States.  He left behind his wife, Arcangela and their son, Rocco.  They joined him in New York City in December 1897.  Gerardo and Arcangela lived the rest of their lives in Manhattan and had eight more children.  This website tells of their descendants and ancestors.
