LEBANON, Va. -- Stella Addison Combs, 88, died Monday, Dec.
                 25, 2000, in the Russell County Medical Center.

                 A lifelong resident of Russell County, she was a daughter of the
                 late Henry E. and Ola Kegley Addison. She was a member of the
                 Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church and was a life member
                 of the United Methodist Women of the church. She was the
                 widow of Arthur Combs.

                 She was preceded in death by one daughter, Bettie Anne Combs
                 Flannagan; two sisters: Mary Blaine Ayers and Pauline Greer; and
                 two brothers: Henry E. Addison Jr. and Howard Addison.

                 Surviving are one son: James Arthur Combs and wife Dana,
                 Lebanon; one son-in-law: Sam H. Flannagan, Richmond, Va.; four
                 grandchildren: Dr. Dorothy Flannagan, San Antonio, Texas,
                 Elizabeth Edwards and husband Steve, Richmond, Va., Stephanie
                 Copes and husband Peter, Springfield, Va., and James Arthur
                 (Jamie) Combs II, Lebanon; five great-grandchildren: Michael
                 Flannagan, Anne Chaddock Edwards, Sam Edwards, Tommy Copes
                 and Emily Copes; one brother, James Addison, Taylor, Mich.; two
                 sisters, Lena Luzadder, New Lexington, Ohio, and Thelma Saddler,
                 Lebanon; also several nieces and nephews.

                 Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the
                 Combs Funeral Service Chapel in Lebanon with the Rev. Mike
                 Carter officiating. The committal service and burial will be 11 a.m.
                 Wednesday in the Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon. Those
                 wishing to go in procession are requested to be at the funeral
                 home by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Brian Vencill,
                 Trigg Fields, Lee Scott Horne, Richard Jessee, W.D. Jessee, Roger
                 Kiser, Winston Kiser and David Castle. In lieu of flowers, memorials
                 may be made to: The Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church,
                 P.O. Box 158, Lebanon, VA 24266. The family will receive friends
                 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

                 Combs Funeral Service is serving the family.
