Alsatian Roots & More
My name is Margaret
Simpson-Meyer and I live in Houston, Texas, home of the wonderful Clayton
Library for Genealogical Research. I grew up in Hondo in
Medina County, Texas, and have lived in Indonesia and Russia. Living in
foreign countries was a wonderful experience, but there's no place like Texas
and my roots. My ancestors on my father's side immigrated from
Alsace to Medina County in the mid-1800's. I have many fond memories of my father and
grandmother speaking Alsatian, especially when we "went to call" on
the older relatives. This gave birth to my interest in my genealogy, my
own as well as the early immigrants to
Medina County. I'm a member of Southwest Texas Genealogical Society and
Castro Colonies Heritage Association and
I highly recommend their quarterly publications. For additional Medina County information
visit TXGenWeb for Medina County.

Check back again soon; I'm continuously
updating my information. I've verified a lot of my information
from original church and civil records and from visits to cemeteries and
libraries, but I'm still
gathering proofs, so there may be a few errors. I welcome corrections,
additions, comments, questions or typos so feel free to e-mail
me. |
