b: May 7, l827 In Middletown, Frederick County VA Jacob was a plasterer
and brick mason by trade. At the start of the Civil War, the couple left
Virginia and settled in the town of Heyworth, McLean County, IL where they
produced nine children (three of whom died in infancy.) Jacob died 9 May,
l905 after a freak accident that led to a fatal case of tetanus.

Marker b: May 4, l867 in Heyworth IL He was an educator by
profession. He earned a B.A. degree from the University of Illinois and
an M.A. from Columbia University. He taught at a number of U.S. colleges
including Eastern Washington State University at Cheyney, Dakota Weslyan
University in South Dakota and Kent State University in Ohio. Later in
life George retired from teaching to become editor and part owner of the
Kent
newspaper and proprietor of a commercial printing firm. He died in
Kent April 1, l956 and is buried at Kent's Standing Rock Cemetery.
