The mill pond was up the hill to the right and the race came down nad entered the mill at a point below the window. the water turned a turbine that operated the mill stones and also all the other machinery in the mill. It was quite an elaborate setup The flour would be sent up to the other flours and loaded into barrels and sacks.

The water from the race would exit the mill at the arrow. At that time the road wasn't at that location. It might have been closer to the mill.

Here is the map where I found Marker's Mill. There were a lot of mills along Big pipe Creek. Must have been a busy place 150 years ago.
