He was the adopted nephew of Giles.
I had heard that Florence was the family historian. Took some time to locate her and get an address. Sent he couple page letter to her asking her this and that.Got a reply from her. Remember it well. Large thick letter. I expected to find out everything. I opened the letter slowly anticipating the content. Shocked, inside was the letter I has sent her. Unopened! On the back was the simple but deep hurting message. "Your letters are not welcome."
Sat around the house for two weeks uncertain what to do next. I had never met her and she did know I existed, how could she feel that way?
Sent a letter to Doc Shepepard and told him I was giving up the search and if he felt the same as she I would understand. Got his letter almost right away.
"To hell with her. She don't really like me much either. Do not give up. I'll help you all I can." That was back in 1977. Recon I took Doc serious or hardly any of this would you be reading about. MDB
