Banker Family Tree

As the story goes....

My grand father, Otto Banker, used to hide some gold coins in a small tin can, placed inside the chimney on the old shed roof. then a coffee can was turned upside down to hide this stash. The can had several holes in it to allow the smoke from the stove to slip out.

My dad's two older brothers, William Sr. and Fred Sr. would go up on that shed roof to sneak a drag on a cigarette: using the added height to watch for their dad to make sure they weren'r caught smoking again and more important, just "goofing off as always."

One day, while laid out on the roof smoking away, they noticed the coffee can on the chimney. They took it off. Let out a yelp as they saw the glitter of the gold coins. Took the coins and put the can back in place. They tried to act as if they did not see or take the coins but their father's prescences was enough intimidation for them to volunteer the fortune in finding the gold coins.

Their dad, Otto, did not have to even guess why the two were on the roof. He knew. Both got a whipping, and Otto got his coins back to hide some place else.
