Damron lived across the Street in Banket when Elmer and Delmer Simpson were born. Mrs. Damron made the first clothes for Elmer & Delmer when they were born. Ottie Damron Simpson recalls, she was 15 or 16 at the time. When Elmer & Delmer were young boys, Barnett had a team of oxen named Tom and Jerry, which he used to move houses. He hauled the lumber for the home in Blanket from Ft. Worth. When approached for a loan at one time by an acquaintance, who offered Barnett a note in return, for purchase of a horse and saddle he was told "Never mind the note, if you don't pay-up, I'll just whip you. Barnett Simpson traveled by "double buggy" to Missouri to wed the widow Archer. He picked up a marriage license enroute, in Laclede Co., Mo. and married Louvina Jane Lane Archer in her place of residence. They returned to Blanket with the four Archer children, much to the surprise of his first family. He had not told them the reason for his visit to Missouri. Elmer & Delmer won a $5.00 Gold Piece in a Baby Contest at the Brown County Fair when they were about a year old, ca 1906 6. William M.
