Malcolm McAlpine's Family History Page

I am researching my Family History concentrating on my McAlpine ancestors but including side branches. I am also exploring my wife's Family History. Her father was a Charlton from N.E. England (South Shields area) and her mother a Long from Norfolk.

My g grandmother was Ellen Yevily born in Liverpool of parents who came from Shropshire. I doubt if there are many Yevilys alive today but if there are I would be delighted to hear from them. Email me! Other names in my family are: Campbell, Capper, Clark, Dillon, Girven, Mason, McLachlan and Stewart.

My g g g grandparents Malcom McAlpine and Margaret Campbell lived in North Knapdale, Argyll during the late 1700s and early 1800s and as far as I know had three children: Kate b/c 1796, Duncan b/c 1799 and Robert b/c 1802. All were born at Bellanoch (on the Crinan Canal) in North Knapdale.

Duncan McAlpine married Mary Clark in Paisley in 1826 and they had three children: Malcom (my g grandfather) b/c 1827, Flora b/c 1831 and Margaret b/c 1833. Malcom and Flora were born on Islay and Margaret in Paisley.

Malcom married Ellen Yevily in Liverpool in 1854, Flora married Neil McLachlan in Greenock in 1850 and Margaret married Alexander Stewart in Greenock in 1863.

The background to this page is the old McAlpine Tartan.
