The family is first found in the USA in Philadelphia in 1684/1690. Then, by the early 1700s on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Queen Anne's County -- James Countiss and his wife, Mary Greene. Descendants are located in Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma, California, Texas, New Jersey, Kentucky, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Washington, Montana and Canada.
