court-house, Epworth, before G. S. Lister, Esq., on Friday 14th Inst.
Owston - Mr Gervas Lindley, Mr Joseph Popple, Mr John Medley and Mr James Fletcher.

Stamford Mercury Friday 30 December 1853
The annual meeting of the Owston Agricultural Association was held on the 21st.... Class 3. To servants under 21 years of age for ploughing. 17s 6d to Gervas Lindley, with Mr Holmes (his employer I think) of Owston. (This was a ploughing competition and Gervas appears to have been the winner for his group)
