Thomas Ormerod Thomas (my 3 x Great
Grandfather) was born in 179 The
ancient parochial chapelry of Waddington in the parish of Mitton comprised the
three townships of Waddington, West Bradford and Grindleton. It was probably
founded and endowed with lands by the Tempests as a manorial chapel, but
disputes having arisen, a composition was made in 1438 between the Abbot and
Convent of Cockersand Thomas worked as a chair
maker.
He married
Jane Moss, in Waddington, Yorkshire on the 7th of July
1821. The entry in the Parish Register reads:- The
1841 census shows- The
1851 census shows - West Bradford Thomas and Jane had at least 12 children:-
Thomas Ormerod died on
the 23rd of August 1853 in the village of West Bradford, Yorkshire as the result
of ` disease of the lungs'. His son, William, was present at the death. His
wife, Jane, died in West Bradford on the 5th of February 1856 as the result of
`phthisis'. Her son, Richard, was present at the death. Thomas was buried at
Waddington on the 27th of August 1853, aged 55. The ceremony was performed by W
Harrison, Curate.
