TURNERS CHOICE

In 1730 Samuel Turner gave to his son John land in Somerset County Maryland called TURNERS CHOICE. The following is a representation of this the deed.

"Maryland Somerset County} Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Turner ( ) of the county aforesaid for the Natural Love and Affection I give to my son John Turner and for Divers other good confessed considerations are there said (mooring) have

( ) and by ( ) all that (parcel or) plantation of land situate lying and being in the county aforesaid commonly called Turners Choice abutted and being bounded as followeth ( ) beginning at a Marked white oak standing at the (South)most end of an ( ) ()urrow with Marshes and near the Mouth of a Branch Issuing out of a creek called Deep Branch thence ( ) and with the side of the southernmost branch of the said creek west and by south two pole thence north. Eighty degrees westerly twenty two poles thence west two degrees Southerly forty four poles thence south thirty Degrees westerly sixty poles thence west five degrees Northerly fifty Eight pole near marked (and) red oak standing by the Said Branch side a little above a gully thence from a branch south south east thirty six pole thence east nine degrees southerly two hundred and ninety four pole and from thence with a right line drawn to the first boundary. Containing by estimation one hundred and fifty Acres be the some more or less. To Have and to hold the said (piece) or parcel of land to him the said Jno Turner his heirs and assignors for ever to the only proper ( ) and behalf of him the said Jno Turner his heirs and assignors for ever, and the said Samuel Turner the aforesaid piece and parcel of land to said Jno Turner his heirs and assigners against all and all manner of persons claiming or to claim by power under me shall and will warrant and for ever defend by there person to the witness where of I have ( ) set my hand and seal this Sixteenth day of Nov Anal Dom 1730." "Before Wm Planner and Jno (Jouse) two of his lords( ) justices for the County aforesaid personally appeared before us Thos Bluett Gent. who made oath that he saw the within mentioned Samuel Turner Sign Seal and Deliver the within Deed of Gift and that he at the same time saw the within Solomon Webb Sign as an Evidence Sworn before us this Seventeenth day of November 1730."
