WILLIAM TURNER'S WILL Of Somerset County, Maryland, born about 1695; died about February 3, 1764 in Worcester County Maryland. He married in 1711 in Somerset County, Comfort Oxford, daughter of Thomas Oxford. William lived in the Mattapony Hundred of Somerset County.( Tax Lists of Somerset County 1730-1740 by J. Elliot Russo] The following is the Will of William Turner as seen in the Maryland Archives: "I William Turner Senior of Worcester County in the Province of Maryland being of perfect sound memory calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and having a mind to Settle my Worldly Affairs do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following ( ) Imprimis I give and bequeath to my son George Turner his Heirs and Assigns forever One hundred Acres of Land The Tract of parcel of Land I now live on called PARRAMORES DOUBLE PURCHASE and that end lying at the North West by West end and up in the Woods from the Seaside And my Hand Mill. Item I five and bequeath to my Daughter Sorrowful Anne Mary Disharoon her Natural life One hundred Acres of Land of the Tract or parcel of Land I now live on called PARRAMORES DOUBLE PURCHASE and that end lying at the South East by East end of the Tract or parcel of Land and next the Sea Side. And after her decease to my Grand Daughter Sophia Disharoon, her Heirs and Assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Son William Turner his Heirs and Assigns forever That part of a Tract of Land called THORNBERRY which be Deed conveyed by me and my wife Comfort, to him containing Two hundred Acres more or less and one grown Cow, one gun and my great Table. Item I give and bequeath to my two Daughters Esther Turner and Comfort Turner and their Heirs and Assigns forever, The Remainder of that Tract of Land called THORNBERRY that I have not given away to my Son William Turner to be equally divided betwixt them and a grown cow apiece to them. Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Sophia Disharoon one two year Old Heifer to her and her Heirs or Assigns forever, Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Tamer Fisher her Heirs and Assigns forever five pounds worth of moveable estate. Item I give and bequeath to my Loving Wife Comfort, all my moveable Estate or Personal Estate of what kind so her that is in my Possession that I have not given away yet to my Wife and her disposal to her children as She pleases to dispose of it. It is my Will and desire that my Estate be not appraised but everyone have their part as above mentioned. Hereby revoking and disannulling all former Wills Testaments Legacies, gifts and bequests by me given or bequeathed In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal this 30th day of November Anne Dom one thousand seven hundred and Sixty three." his "Febry. 3rd 1764 Came John Milbourn, Leaven Newton and Comfort Newton the Subscribing Witness's to the foregoing Will and made Oath on the holy Uvengalis of Almighty God that they saw the Testator William Turner sign seal and heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament and that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of a sound disposing mind and memory and that they Subscribed their names as Witnesses to the said Will in the presence of the Testator and at his request. Sworn before Benton Harris Deputy Comsy of Worcester County." |
