1. PETER¹ UMSTOT was born Abt. 1740 in Born in Germany, and died 1819 in Beaver Run, Headsville, Hampshire, Mineral Co., WV. He married RACHEL GOODE.

Notes for PETER UMSTOT:

It is noted, Peter Umstot Sr. was paying taxes in Hampshire County in May 1771. In 1773, he was paying off a purchase of land (240 acre farm that he purchased from John Higgins, located on the west side of Beaver Run about 2 miles south of Headsville.)

Peter and Rachel lived out their lives on the farm and are buried in unmarked graves at the southwest corner near the base of the hills.

At one time, Peter was appointed surveyor for Hampshire County on April 16, 1789, and he bought and sold several parcels of land in the county.

Umstot (Umstott) family line of Peter and Rachel are related to the Umstot's lines in Ohio, Illinois, Kansas and Wisconsin.

After his death, his descendents moved to Guernsey County, Ohio.

Probably born on his father's farm located on Beaver Run in what is now Mineral County, WV.

He probably died in 1818, as his estate was probated February 15, 1819.

Jacob was involved in several real estate transactions in Hampshire County, the first in 1794, when he was twenty. At the time of his death, he was living on a 112 acre farm on Cabin Run near his parents.

After Thomas Reese died, she moved to Guernsey County, Ohio where most of her children lived. She is buried in Guernsey Cemetery, Wheeling Township, Guersey County, near her son Samuel.
