I am researching the MALONE family which is my ancestor line. I have had a difficult time attempting to research this particular Malone line. My earliest ancestor known at this time is James Malone who emigrated from Ireland prior to 1830 and settled in the eastern panhandle of what is now Fort Ashby, Mineral County, West Virginia. A picture of the fort that was named for an Enghlishman and became known as Fort Ashby can be viewed. By 1850, there is no record of James nor his wife, Elizabeth. Two of his known children were living with a neighbor, Joseph Waggoner. They are George and Luke. George married Joseph's daughter, Susan. {Joseph Waggoner married Nancy Atkinson and was the son of John Michael Waggoner.} I only know James wife's first name "Elizabeth." The Malone family is connected to several different family lines through marriages. I am most interested in Adams, Bonnet, Broome, Huff, Knotts, Long, Malick, Price, Umstot/Umstott/Umstadt, and Waggoner/Wagner/Wagoner. Feel free to contact me to compare notes.
I am also researching my mother's side of the family. My HILLEARY line begins with Thomas Hilleary who was born in 1620 in England. Prior to 1650, Thomas had immigrated to Calvert County, Maryland. The Hilleary family has ancestors in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Colorado, Virginia and West Virginia. The Hilleary name is connected to the following family lines: MONNETT, SPRIGG, Crabb, Beall, Belt, Berry, Dick, Graves, Koonce, Slagle, Squire, and Wilson. Feel free to contact me to compare notes.
A great deal of the information was obtained through sources such as the internet, court house records, and most importantly conversations with friends and relatives. I can not promise all the information is true. It is important when using the information you attempt to verify the facts. The facts given here are only as I know it. If you find errors, please send me an e/mail and I will correct the information and note the source. If you have a link to a particular family line or would like to receive information from individuals which are also interested in your line, please contact me.
