Lorena Eaker's book, "German Speaking People West of the Catawba River"
lists John Froneberger (1758-1842), with wife, Barbara Huffstetler, having
a daughter, Mary. She was b. 1785, Lincoln Co., d. after 1850 census, m. Sep 1803,

L. Eaker spells his name as HEARNE. Further, Land documents show the spelling of Moses' names
as "Hearne".
Moses was born in b. 1782, d. aft. 1850, Gaston Co. North Carolina.
Mary's father, John Froneberger, served in the North Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary
War and has been used for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.
John Froneberger's father was pioneer, William Froneberger (bef. 1733 - bef. Jul 1771).
The data about Moses Hearne's children was obtained from a Huffstetler reseacher who,
unfortunately, has misplaced the source of that information. He very generously provided
copies of land transactions for the Hearnes and Huffstetlers and has promised to
send verification of Moses' data when it surfaces.
However, there is some substantiating information regarding Moses sons.

Moses and older brother Joshua left their father, James, household in Rowan Co. N.C. before the 1800 Rowan Co. Census. Joshua Hearne was enumerated in the 1800 Lincoln
Co. census. However, it is not known if Moses was close by his brother at this time.
In 1803 Moses married Mary Froneberger. Mary was the daughter of John Froneberger who,
in turn, was the son of Wilhem Froneberger, an early pioneer in the area of western
North Carolina. Moses and Mary, by 1822, were farming 237 acres of tobacco.
Moses and Mary passed away sometime after the 1850 Gaston Co. Census.
