MY MOST WANTED

The following are individuals I'm trying to link into the Mikesell tree. I most cases I have a suspect in mind for who they link to. See if you can be of any help in anyway. Even if you can show I'm all wet.

******************************************************

Simon Peter Mikesell born in Indiana ca 1831 married to Nancy Blanchette MONROE b. 25 Oct 1835 in Trimble Co KY. By dates and location of marriage in Trimble KY 1852 and location in the same place in 1860 and 1870 census, I believe Simon must be a child of David Mikesell b. ca 1808 and Mary Keryea b. ca 1807. David and Mary were married in Indiana 10 Nov 1829. and the first child I have is Samuel Mikesell ca 1831.

In the 1860 census, Simon and family are located on the same page as Philip who I believe to be his brother but have no "proof".

Philip Meixell b.1795 and his father Philip b?. I think the father may be Philip Meixel (b.1766) listed on my site with parents Johannes Meixel (b.4 Oct 1733)/Anna Margaretha Illig(b.1739).

The following is some history on this family.

Philip Meixell, a native of Bushkill, Northampton County, Pa. settled in Salem Township, Luzerne County, about 1810. The records show that he received a patent from the Commonwealth of Penna. for land in Salem Township, Luzerne County, for lots 25 and 26 of 1st Division of Salem dated January 27, 1817 - 96 Acres and 116 P.S. Patent Book H-14-p. 633. He cleared and improved the land on which he and his wife Elizabeth Varner Meixell lived. A History of Luzerne County states they had two sons, Philip and John, their only known children, who came with them to Salem. Philip Meixell, Sr., died intestate. Philip Meixell and John Meixell were appointed administrators of his estate, April 1827. The dates of birth, marriage and death, and place of burial of Philip Meixell, Sr., and his wife Elizabeth are unknown to the writer.

Their sons both were born in Northampton County; John born December 5,1792, married Rachel, daughter of John Hetler born June 24, 1793. Their daughter Elizabeth, was baptized by the Pastor of the Wapwallopen Church on April 20, 1817; the sponsors were the grandparents, Philip and Elizabeth Meixell. John Meixell and his family removed from Salem to Fairmont Township where they lived until their deaths. He died May 25, 1874, his wife died February 5, 1885.

Philip Meixell, Jr., "after attaining his majority settled in what is now Conyngham Township, cleared a farm which had been patented to his father-in-law, and passed the rest of his days there." His wife Catharine was a daughter of Peter and Susanna Lanehart, pioneers of Nescopeck Township. The land patent granted Peter Lanehart was dated May 19,1806, P. Bk. P-50456 79 ¾ AS. & Allow, is located opposite Gould Island, sometimes called Smithers Island. It includes Road No. 40120 to Pond Hill. The Pond Hill church and cemetery are on land that was part of Philip Meixell's original tract.
